** Gilda's return has been predicted probably since the moment she left. So when the episode was revealed to be about griffons, nobody was shocked to see Gilda.
** Many people theorized before the episode aired that the true mission was for Rainbow Dash and Gilda to repair their friendship.

* AluminumChristmasTrees: In the scene where Rainbow Dash is pondering the tree stump that once served as a dais for the Idol of Boreas, there are some [[BioluminescenceIsCool glowing mushrooms]] growing out of the stump. They're not plot-relevant; they're just [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bioluminescent_fungi glowing mushrooms]].

* HarsherInHindsight: Gilda's bitter jealousy towards Pinkie in "Griffon the Brushoff" comes off much more sympathetically in hindsight. She wasn't a very nice person, and it still doesn't quite excuse her actions, but Gilda's downright friendly by comparison to her race, and lost her only friend, returning home worse off for the experience.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: Her genuinely friendly moments towards Rainbow are easier to see now. Especially her reciting the Junior Speedsters chant, begrudgingly as it was. "Only for you, Dash".
