** Say what you will about Pinkie's rap song, the effects used to emulate video cassettes from the late-eighties/early nineties were pretty good. They were also used during the "rewinding" bits.
* WereStillRelevantDammit: Pinkie Pie rapping, complete with her dressed in "street" clothes, is a PlayedForLaughs example.

** The episode aired at the beginning of April, around the time most college and university students are facing exams coming up. Lines such as "This is the most important test of your life" and "I'm totally confused and I just wanna go home" become particularly sympathetic remembering this.

* BrokenBase: Before the episode was released, the preview clip of Pinkie Pie's [[ThemeTuneRap rap song]] split the fanbase into two camps: those who thought of it as harmless, silly fun and no better or worse than any other song on the show; and those who thought the very idea screams TotallyRadical and a dearth of ideas on the writers' part, with Vinyl Scratch thrown in as a half-hearted attempt at pandering. The line was blurred somewhat when the episode came out and showed the rap is a very clear case of StylisticSuck, especially given the animators went the extra mile to give the visuals during the song a {{Retraux}} look of something from a late-80s/early-90s VHS tape (with scan lines, semi-blurry quality, and presenting the scene in a 4:3 aspect ratio as opposed to widescreen).

* FanficFuel: The founder of the Wonderbolts was named [[MythologyGag Firefly]][[note]]though as noted by Rogers, this was meant to be reference to Lauren Faust's "fyre_flye" screenname, itself drawing inspiration from G1 Firefly[[/note]]. As to be expected, a flood of fanfics and fanarts about G1 Firefly founding the Wonderbolts is probably the main thing that'll come from the fandom following this episode.
** Additionally, the WorldBuilding of the Wonderbolts' creation leaves a year-long gap from Luna's banishment to their founding, a time period ripe for fanfic filling. The history also provides mentions of numerous "Celestial Eras" (4, at least) and half-a-dozen famous past Wonderbolts.

* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Twilight and Rainbow's shadows realistically wrapping around everything below them, especially the house. The shots actually seem specifically set up to show off the effect, though later providing critical to showing off Rainbow's ChekhovsSkill.

* HilariousInHindsight: Rainbow is a fan of the Wonderbolts but, at least at the start of the episode, has no interest in its past generations. [[TakeThat This sounds]] [[PeripheryDemographic strangely familiar]].
** The ShoutOut to the anti-piracy rap "Don't Copy That Floppy", considering [[YouTube the normal means]] the PeripheryDemographic watches the show.
