** Fans were split over NYAV's dub once again. Was it an improvement from the first series, was it worse, or was it the same level as Ocean's dub?

* WTHCostumingDepartment: Kira's civilian outfit in ''SEED'' had quite a few belts but was relatively believable. His new one in ''Destiny'' has belts across the chest that seemingly do nothing, more belts around his ankles and even ones on his ''shoes''. Except for photos on her phone, Mayu is only seen wearing her school uniform, even on occasions where it would be odd to wear one such as on a vacation in the forest.

** Neo Roanoke was supposed to be a TragicVillain who regretted his actions but thought he had no choice, like breaking his promise to Shinn to never let Stella enter the battlefield, which was later implied due to him being brainwashed. But that moment painted him as a JerkWithAHeartOfJerk which undermined his prior redeeming traits, and it's ambiguous how much of his actions were due to brainwashing. His HeelFaceTurn upon realizing he was brainwashed was supposed to redeem him, but he did so for reasons other than his prior actions (admitting he wants to fight with the ''Archangel'' to get back at the ''Minerva'' rather than for any moral concerns), never got to anything related to atoning (like fight his former masters), and shows no regret [[KarmaHoudini and suffers no consequence for his past deeds]] once he does. ''Super Robot Wars Z'' fixes this by [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone having him express open regret for his actions]] after defecting.

** Shinn's MemeticLoser and DecoyProtagonist status in favor of Kira and Athrun considered the true protagonist of ''Destiny'' almost feels reversed when ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSeedFreedom Freedom]]'' came out. Kira is definitively the protagonist there but Shinn and Athrun (the latter got slightly DemotedToExtra but still very relevant) got much more memorable scenes, making them be the reason fans remember the film quite well rather than Kira.

** Sting becomes known as the first Gundam pilot in the Cosmic Era to have his machine completely destroyed by {{Mook}} units. His Chaos Gundam was not destroyed by ace pilots in ZAKUs like Athrun, Dearka and Yzak but by your average pilots in Murasames.

** The Savior Gundam's is best known for being "Savior'd" by Kira where it gets sliced apart.

** One of the rarer cases but Athrun suffers from this by some for how he provides conflicting advice to Shinn [[MortonsFork where he has hit Shinn for disobeying orders and again for ''following'' orders]]. Athrun getting called out in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ'' for his indecisiveness by Yzak and his mentoring by [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Quattro]] does not help. If the ZAFT route was chosen for the ''Destiny'' final battle, [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Kamille, Amuro]] and even Kira point out that Athrun gives up too easily without trying all options when it came to solving problems.

* AmericansHateTingle: Like in ''SEED'', Kira and Lacus have a more mixed reception in the west even though they're among the most popular characters in Japan. On the other hand, [[https://ranking.goo.ne.jp/column/5325/ranking/51363/ a 2018 poll of most hated Gundam characters]] had Kira be ranked 1st, Lacus ranked 11th and even Athrun who ranked 20th.

** Kira and Lacus: The return of a pair of beloved characters or a SpotlightStealingSquad whose time has passed?

* AmericansHateTingle: Like in ''SEED'', Kira and Lacus have a more mixed reception in the west even though they're among the most popular characters in Japan.

** The Destiny Gundam's ''Palma Fiocina'' is not actually an attack like [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Shining Finger]] but rather a beam cannon that can be shot from its hands as seen in [[https://youtu.be/Li7PKQAMFiw?t=19 Gundam Seed Destiny: Generation of C.E.]] and the [[https://gunpla.fandom.com/wiki/1/144_ZGMF-X42S_Destiny_Gundam?file=1-144-Destiny-Gundam-boxart.jpg NG 1/144 Destiny Gundam model kit's cover]]. Very few (if any) media portray the ''Palma Fiocina'' used as a ranged attack as not even the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' games have done this. Several sources claim that the ''Palma Fiocina'' are a short-range weapon and not really practical for a long-range attack, though there's also zero scenarios where Shinn actually attempts this. In side content such as video games, there are frequent scenarios of Shinn fighting against or alongside Domon, only furthering the comparisons with ''Anime/GundamBuildFightersTry'' and ''Gundam Build Divers Battlogue'' having fights of the Destiny Gundam clashing with the Build Burning Gundam and Burning Gundam, the latter outright having a clash between the ''Palma Fiocina'' and "Burning Finger."

** Athrun and the Infinite Justice may be an unintentional {{Expy}} of [[Anime/GreatMazinger Tetsuya Tsurugi and the Great Mazinger]]. Unlike Kira and Koji who become pilots by FallingIntoTheCockpit, Athrun and Tetsuya are trained soldiers and an AcePilot in their own rights but have issues with their social skills which puts them at odds with others (Shinn in Athrun's case and Koji in Tetsuya's case) and fathers (figure in Tetsuya's case) where both feel the only way to please their paternal figures is to fight. The Infinite Justice and Great Mazinger both use a BattleBoomerang, [[ArmedLegs leg-blades]], [[HeroesPreferSwords their machines specialize in using sword/beam sabers]] and [[RammingAlwaysWorks can use their backpacks to crash into enemies]]. Coincidence or not, Fukuda goes onto direct Grendizer U.

* FashionVictimVillain: Lord Djibril. The man is running around in ''pajamas'', for crying out loud. Ditto Yuna and his [[IconicOutfit sleepwear]]. Not as commonly criticized but Kira's civilian wear continues to have an impractical number of belts.
