* AuthorsSavingThrow: A number of viewers were getting tired of how the show is constantly dragging out the Love Square. "Cat Blanc" gives us a good reason to wait: we're presented with a BadFuture that started when Marinette and Adrien revealed their identities to each other and hooked up, explaining that it would be a very risky move to make as long as Hawk Moth's (or at the very least, Gabriel Agreste as Hawk Moth) still at large.

Idiot Plot is about all the characters (or at least a significant number of them) acting like idiots so the plot can happen. This is, at best, Idiot Ball on Marinette's part or, which I find more likely, a case of For Want Of A Nail (if Marinette hadn't spent so much time fangirling, she could have gotten in and out of Adrien's room with him none the wiser).

If she hadn't been distracted then she simply could have just left the gift, signed it, and left without him knowing. Marinette also choose to blame it on the tag rather than her procrastination even though it was the true cause of her identity being exposed.
