* ScrappyMechanic: In ''Metal Max 2 (Reloaded),'' you'll find undesirable items appearing on both your vehicles and your characters that simply cannot be disposed of. You have to go all the way back to Mado City to get rid of them with the help of a Car Wash and a Gum Remover Specialist, respectively.

Reloaded mitigates it with (infinitely reusable) items that cleans your car, and the Gum item being scrapped entirely.

Added DiffLines:

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Many people view ''Metal Max Xeno Reborn'' as a thoroughly inferior product to the original ''Metal Max Xeno'', from the gameplay changes to the removal of cel-shading and "revised" character art. It doesn't help that the original ''Xeno'' was delisted while ''Xeno Reborn'' survives, leaving the latter as the only easily-accessible option.

* SelfImposedChallenge: Take on any of the final bosses in these games without tanks. Have fun with that.

* PortingDisaster: ''Metal Max 2 Kai'' (GBA) was a horrible port of ''Metal Max 2''. While it added a handful of new items, tanks, and bosses, it was undermined by many other things. Most "buried" items in the original game became unobtainable, [[GameBreakingBug the game often crashed from poor coding]], and the graphics and music were downgraded massively. Even the new tanks were not received well, because they were quite overpowered for early-game tanks.

* ThatOneBoss: In ''Xeno'' no bounty is as hated as Mechdonald. It's a carrier/sand-submarine that fights only from a long distance away so machine guns can't harm it, it has a high rate of interception fire, it can't be shield broken but its attacks will bypass your shields to do damage directly to your tank. Add to that, a high level of health and strong attacks plus summons and you got a boss that's an absolute pain to fight.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqh9pfguXgg Route 99]] from ''Sajin no Kusari.''
** Every game's version of the song that plays during the battles with wanted enemies, especially ''Sajin no Kusari's '' version
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The Hare Head of ''Seijin no Kusari'' stands out even among the more...colorful characters in the game. An AmbiguouslyHuman figure in a black suit with some sort of featureless mask over his face (with long rabbit ears, hence his name), approaching him prompts him to either give some cryptic advice, spout off a nonsensical phrase, or simply snarl at you, before spinning and disappearing BehindTheBlack. He's never really adequately explained or even ''mentioned'' by other characters.
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: The revival sequence for Dr. Mortem in ''Seijin no Kusari'' likes to mess with the player; sometimes when reviving the protagonist, the usual shock treatment won't work the first time, and Mortem will shake his head before trying again. The revival never actually ''fails,'' however, and eventually the protagonist will sit up from the table none the worse for wear.
