* AndYouThoughtItWouldFail: While fans were excited to see ''Mechamato'', many of them didn't really expected the show to be as memorable as ''Animation/BoBoiBoy'' due to it being a prequel series and almost feeling separated from ''[=BoBoiBoy=]'' since it's rare to mention anything that's connected with it. However, since the show has improved animation, aired on both Creator/CartoonNetwork and Creator/{{Netflix}}, and hired a professional cast both in the local dub and international dubs such as English and Japanese, ''Mechamato'' quickly became popular among local fans and non-local fans. In 2023, the show won the "Anime Fan Award" at the Tokyo Anime Awards Festival (TAAF), becoming the first non-Japanese animation to win the award.

*CompleteMonster: ''Mechamato Movie'': [[TheDreaded Grakakus]] is a ruthless, power-hungry [[MechanicalLifeforms Power Sphere]] hunter who captures and collects armor-type Power Spheres after dooming their owners. After Naut throws [=MechaBot=] into outer space to keep him safe, Grakakus kills Naut in cold blood, traumatizing the most dangerous Power Sphere as a result. Grakakus and his soldiers then break into the Space Prison and attack many robots there, causing it to crash-land on Earth, presumably killing all of them except for the bad robots who escape the crash. Grakakus later attacks Hilir City and almost takes many innocent lives. While fighting Maskmana, Grakakus [[EvilIsPetty drops his captured hostages from his spaceship]] after Mechamato beats him up. Grakakus forcefully separates Amato from [=MechaBot=] before [[WouldHurtAChild attempting to throw him off a building]].

* CrossesTheLineTwice: In TheMovie, the scene where Mechabot in "Truth Mode" told a story about how his previous master died and Grakakus reason to kill Amato supposed to seen as terrifying moment. Then when both of them get bombed by bad robot and fell from sky, Mechabot who still in "Truth Mode", calmly said "Prepare to land and become a ghost" toward scared Amato, this scene suddenly comes off as ''darkly funny'' by audience.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The show itself marketed for young children. Compare to ''Animation/BoBoiBoy'', both the series and the movie is not shy to show the detailed violence in battle, the titular hero itself has no problem to using a violence to defeat their villain and completely averted NeverSayDie-rule.

It Was His Sled is for when the spoiler is so widespread in pop culture/general public that it isn't a spoiler anymore. The reason why Amato and BBB being related is relatively known is because of the marketing (see the Late Arrival Spoiler example in Mechamato), but even then, It Was His Sled needs a 5 year waiting period.

* ItWasHisSled: Fans already know that Amato is father of [=BoBoiBoy=] thanks to the mid-credit scene of ''[=BoBoiBoy=] The Movie 2''.[[spoiler: But Amato is the one who choose Ochobot to be his son RobotBuddy in future is something that both old and new fans didn't expecting in mid-credit scene of Mechamato Movie.]]

* SugarWiki/SuperlativeDubbing: The English Dub provided by Cartoon Network is a lot more improved compared to Disney's dub of ''Animation/{{BoBoiBoy}}''. A lot of the voices sound more natural and in sync with the character's mouths.

* FridgeHorror: Janitoor, who reigned champion of the Space Arena for 5 years, says that losers in the arena are destroyed per tradition. How many losing fighters were destroyed in the arena over that amount of time, or even way before?
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: A bittersweet one since it follows learning the TearJerker which is Mara's backstory, [[spoiler:that being getting paralysed after saving a child from a fire,]] but Amato, Pian and [=MechaBot=] have a newfound and even stronger respect for their friend. Mara's smile by the moonlight makes it all the sweeter as they smile back.
* {{Squick}}:
** Pian has the displeasure of seeing the restroom turn into the Flooded Room challenge, with the toilets spewing so much water that it carries Pian out of the room. Deep is reasonably disgusted.
** Janitoor literally fighting dirty with two filthy toiletbrushes. Some of the gunk appears to ''get into [=MechaBot's=] mouth'' when he strikes Mechamato with them.
* TearJerker: Mara's backstory. [[spoiler:She rescued a young kid when her apartment building caught fire, and got [[HeroicSacrifice paralysed as a result]].]] The incident [[DarkAndTroubledPast still haunts her memory]] as she zones out when she recalls it.
