Some treat her like a SealedEvilInACan who thaws from a block of ice at midnight of November the first (in the Northern hemisphere) and retreats when Christmas comes. Disgruntled retail workers will make jokes about having to listen to it all day long as it plays over the store's speakers. As discussed in the CBH thread, this song is closer to Vindicated. It's more popular than when it was released and only has a hatedom because it is so ubiquitous. If it was really condemned it wouldnt get nearly as much play especially in the era of streaming when it has to be picked and doesnt just come on the radio randomly.

* CondemnedByHistory: "All I Want for Christmas if You" was originally one of the most beloved modern Christmas songs ever made and became one of Mariah's {{Signature Song}}s. However, constant overplay during every Christmas season caused many retail workers and media consumers to eventually get sick of the song. As such, the song has devolved into an internet punching bag and is now considered one of the most annoying songs ever made.

Jump cut to 2005, with the release of ''The Emancipation of Mimi'' and it's hit single "We Belong Together". Many consider the former to be her best album and the latter to be her best song. Both won back a ton of the fans she lost, reviving an interest in her music and eventually paving the way for two more #1 singles ("Don't Forget About Us" and "Touch My Body") to add to her already impressive tally of ''sixteen''.
