* WTHCostumingDepartment: Due to the various artists who draw the Magical Girls in the game, some with very different styles from the base Madoka style, certain costumes get a fair bit of flak from sections of the fans, often for being overly sexualized despite both the age of the characters involved and questions about why their outfits would even be like that in-universe. Move to Fridge page

* FridgeBrilliance:
** Ever wonder why the uwasas' barrier have Japanese characters instead of runes? It's because uwasa are not [[spoiler:creations of incubators like witches]]. They were made by [[spoiler:the Magius]].
** Kanagi wasn't part of Mitama's Special Training event for two reasons. The first is that, as Mitama's friend, she would know most of the answers and give her an unfair advantage over everyone else. The second, because she's Mitama's friend, she could probably tell that Mitama would have a bit too much 'fun' with it and stayed the heck out of dodge to avoid the inevitable hijinks.
** Rena in the anime attempts to throw off those following her by disguising herself as Ren, which fails. Is this just fanservice because Ren is one of the most popular secondary characters in all Magia Record? Maybe, but Rena and Ren are in the same grade and go to the same school, even if some events do imply they don't share classes. Rena might be more familiar with Ren than many other possible candidates, making the disguise a reasonable one for her to try, especially as Ren is naturally quiet, making for a good disguise as fewer people would approach Rena as Ren than if, say, she disguised herself as Leila (who has a lot more people interested in talking to her.)
** It has been observed that Kyubey had no issue with Rui's initial wish for a 'partner redeemed shinigami who fights for justice' despite saying he can't grant Sana's initial wish to enter her favorite television series world to live in instead. However other Magia Record events have shown that ghosts do exist, and Kyubey had placed the soul of a dead person, Hiko, into a Magical Girl, Himena, in canon. So Kyubey could have given Rui that wish by manipulating a ghost, distinct from creating an entire reality based on fiction for Sana to inhabit.
** Some fans had noted that [[Anime/LycorisRecoil Takina's]] outfit is basically just her regular outfit with an extra flourish. As Takina in her own series really didn't wear things that she didn't chose for herself, it makes sense she wouldn't have the most divergent magical girl outfit.
* FridgeHorror:
** If anyone [[RewatchBonus rewatching the anime]] were to recall that [[spoiler:Kuroe witched out because her Doppel dragged her outside Alina's Doppel barrier and that Alina was truthfully a JerkWithAHeartOfJerk who eventually settled on turning all humanity into witches [[EvilIsPetty for art]] even if it meant [[NoOntologicalInertia destroying her barrier]]]] while watching the scene where [[spoiler:dozens of magical girls [[AndThenJohnWasAZombie contract Doppel Syndrome]] after Embryo Eve is awakened]], then it's reasonable to assume things would have been been [[EverybodyDiesEnding far more disastrous]] if Alina had remained with the Magius at the very end.
** What ''Its Okay To Be Clumsy'' put Riko through was already rather unsettling, but it gets more so if you compare it to [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheMovieRebellion what happened to Homura in Rebellion when things really went downhill]] and you realize that it wasn't just a witch hunt gone wrong. It was [[spoiler: Riko barely avoiding turning into a witch by the skin of her teeth, the intervention of Manaka and Mitama, and the Automatic Purification System.]]

Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
Figured that there are enough characters to warrant a separate Game Breaker page. These examples are kind of outdated anyway.

* GameBreaker:
** In PvE, using double Madoka (one of your own and one Support unit) and nothing else allows you to spam Magia and/or Doppel attacks at a ridiculously high frequency, after only three or four turns of prep time. Madoka's Connect restores MP, and having no other fighters lets you use Puella Combos with one Madoka while MP-charging the other almost every turn, ''and'' her Magia/Doppel restores MP for both of them. In addition, her Connect heals and her Magia/Doppel give a 3-turn defense boost, letting them sponge up damage almost indefinitely. Suffice to say, this simple strategy is capable of cheesing most of the battles, including events' hard modes.
** Alternatively, if the battle prevents cheesing with double Madoka [[ObviousRulePatch due to something like Magia Seal or reduced MP gain]], one can always use two of Kanoko/Mami to stunlock enemies. It's not as straightforward as double Madoka due to relying on RNG but it's still noticeably good.
** Yozuru is a Void-element with three Blast discs, meaning that there's nothing that can resist her Puella Blast combo. However, what truly makes her broken is her personal Memoria, "A Worn Mother-and-Child Noteboook," which gives her an extremely powerful Blast Damage Up [IX] and Attack Up [VI] as a ''passive.'' (By comparison, "Toward the Light!", an early 4* Memoria solely dedicated toward boosting Blast damage, only gives Blast Damage Up [V] at full ascension). This Memoria, which you can get just by completing Yozuru's [=MSS=], completely makes up for her somewhat middling Attack and turns her into a GlassCannon that absolutely destroys most PVE content, with a great SE passive and a Connect that grants ''herself'' Chase being icing. Even in Mirrors Ranking, a common BoringButPractical strat is to just use solo Yozuru to hunt solo or 2-girl teams for an easy B or A rank.
** Kanagi (Vampire ver.) is commonly considered to be the best single unit in the entire game. For starters, investing in her Spirit Enhancement board gives her a massive 50% passive evade chance for the first five turns of combat, along with negating the first two status ailments she's targeted with, making her incredibly difficult to hit without rare anti-evade Memoria. She combines this with a 30% attack boost at full health, meaning that if you can't hit her then she's going to hit you back extremely hard. She also generates MP incredibly fast, often letting her consistently Doppel on Turn 2. This combination of great survivability and churning out fast Doppels makes her best-in-slot for Mirrors Ranking and any kind of difficult content. She's also very useful for the 100 Evils challenges because her Magia and Doppel both fully drain MP from enemy magical girls. Even if she can't finish an enemy off with her Doppel, she can at least ensure they don't use a Magia on you.
** Ashley Taylor makes farming even high-level content trivially easy. She has '''4''' Blast discs, basically guaranteeing a Blast combo especially when paired with another Blast unit. Her attack is also sky-high, with very high HP and respectably high defense to boot. Her Spirit Enhancement kit gives her a lot of boosts, including one anti-debuff, Blast MP gain, Blast damage up by ''40%'' and a 15% damage cut for 5 turns at the start of battle, an evade chance, and a critical hit chance. Her connect also gives a guaranteed Charm. Pairing her up with another Ashley for quests basically guarantees you'll steamroll through even EX Challenges without much difficulty. Solo Ashley is also a common way to cheese Mirrors, as her active Spirit Enhancement skill gives her guaranteed anti-evade and anti-provoke.
** Madoka & Iroha, the 4th anniversary dual unit, is probably the best Magia unit in the game. To start out with, their active Spirit Enhancement skill is Accele draw- with a cooldown of only '' 5 turns.'' With their Spirit Enhancement passive skills filled out, they gain ''12 MP'' every single turn on top of protecting all of their teammates from 2 debuffs and 2 status ailments for 5 turns; they also grant themselves and their allies Accele MP up, Blast damage up, and Charged attack damage up for 5 turns. Like Madoka, their Connect also grants MP and heals. What ''really'' makes them special, however, is their second Magia. It ''fully'' heals themselves and their teammates, gives everyone MP, boosts all disc types for 5 turns, gives everyone anti-debuffs for 5 turns, and puts up a barrier that will absorb any damage up to 8000 hit points. And given how fast they can gain MP, this second Magia can be spammed quite often.
** The 2-star Memoria "What's Right Before My Eyes" and "A Once Empty World" each give 20% passive Evade when fully ascended--which isn't hard to do, since they're so common--causing normal attacks to miss you a full 20% of the time ([[ObviousRulePatch as evade is, alongside critical hit rate, one of the few things that doesn't stack]][[labelnote:Note]]There was a small time window where multiple memorias with these effects existed when they could stack[[/labelnote]]). Despite the low chance, these memoria equipped on enemy units can turn any mirrors battle into an exercise in frustration because of the way they disrupt just about any plan of attack and allow the enemy units survive longer than expected, leading to undesirable scenarios where a single enemy magical girl survives to use a high-damaging puella which often ends matches in a loss. This can be countered with anti-evade effects, but many of those are still highly situational and the only passive source is on a limited availability fate weave. Considering that almost every other 2-star memoria is practically useless, this is an impressive feat for the two listed above.
** Dark-attributed Uwasa of Anonymous Mail really like to inflict Curse to a random target. Because Curse leeches off HP by a pretty significant amount and deny any healing to its victim, with limited Memoria options to negate the debuff, the harder stages with these goats will often cause casualties among your party because they're sometimes too tanky to kill quickly. Double the frustration when the stage's 3 star condition is to keep your party in certain health.
** Blessed Witch [[spoiler:(Shitori Egumo/Eve)]] Familiar in Chapter 10. Their ability is to [[ManaBurn remove at least 10 of your MP every turn]]. Their presence basically prevents you from building your MP and unleashing your Magia against the boss.

** Many of the Advanced-difficulty battles in ''[[Manga/PuellaMagiKazumiMagica Another Daze]]'' can fall under this, but special mention goes to Chapter 8-2. It's you vs. Iroha's team. On the surface it doesn't look to be any worse than the other Advanced battles, but then you almost immediately meet a barrage of skills that seems to be custom-built to protect them and cripple you. Iroha's skill gives her 20 MP [[TimeLimitBoss each turn]], which doesn't sound too bad until you realize Sana will literally protect her with her life, no matter the cost [[note]]Iroha can only be hurt by Magia/Doppel attacks if Sana is active[[/note]]. Felicia will [[AntiArmor debuff]] a random target with Defense Down, which can easily lead to them being taken down in one turn. Yachiyo is the only one without a skill, but she can take out a non-Forest Magical Girl if you don't keep her in check. It's a 4-wave battle against the Feathers which are DemonicSpiders in their own rights, the [[RecurringBoss Amane sisters]], Holy Mami, and the Uwasa of the Flower Speaker. Holy Mami will spam her Magia each turn, while the Flower Speaker has a very high offensive stats. It's 3 boss fights in a row. Not even Events Challenge mission throws BossRush at you. It is so difficult even the game doesn't expect you to win without losing any Magical Girls. The heroes ended up completely exhausted after this fight.

Seen talk of this, basing the phrasing off Z-One's entry on 5D's YMMV page.

* RonTheDeathEater: In-game Touka is an antagonist, but like nearly every antagonist in the franchise is well intentioned. She cares for her friends and family, she is trying to save Magical Girls no matter the methods, and ultimately joins the heroes. In fan discourse however, Touka is often written just as a unrepentant brat whose [[FantasticRacism Magical Girl Supremacy]] is elevated to a point of being her most defining trait.

The discords I often am on like making fun of Aimi for this sort of thing, and the fandom generally prefers les yay so noting. Hayato seems fine, but alas he doesn't have a face...

Added DiffLines:

** Aimi is often the butt of jokes for not just her inability to admit her feelings to her crush Hayato despite knowing he reciprocates, but [[HetIsEw for being one of the few Magical Girls that is clearly interested in a guy without a established female love interest]] in a fandom that doesn't really care for such ships. Lots of jokes are thus made at Aimi being one of, if not the only, straight Magical Girl in Kamihama, or her being in the closet about being bisexual, or outright lesbian, all at her expense.

Misplaced, moving to the correct tab

** Happens to a lot of characters in the anime, with many DemotedToExtra or AdaptedOut entirely, but Alina Gray might be most egregious considering her importance to the story. In the first season she's a straightforward AxCrazy villain with little of the twisted morality that made her a popular character in the game, nor does she really serve as a foil to Touka and Nemu since she barely interacts with them. Worse, she spends the second and third seasons largely on the sidelines watching events unfold, even quitting the Magius at one point because she's "bored," then [[spoiler: abruptly returns for the climax solely because Touka and Nemu's HeelFaceTurn required another villain to fuse with Embryo Eve]]. And since Karin only appears as a glorified extra, Alina's central relationship from the game isn't present [[MoralityPet to humanize her]].

Certainly can tweak this phrasing, but decent context as a starting point.

* ValuesDissonance: Yuna's Magical Girl Story has one of her classmates get told by her teacher to dye her hair due to it being too light, despite it being the classmate's natural hair color, and the teacher only backs off when she shows a medical note saying she's allergic to hair dye. Hair color conformity is a common feature of Japanese schools, where the population is rather homogenous, but basically unheard of in the west. How that concept works in a setting where people's natural hair colors include pink, green, blue, and white [[FridgeLogic is unexplored though]].

** Members of the Neo Magius such as Hinema will talk about how San's fellow members of the Youth Association are attracted to her and all want to date her. In the context of Japanese mindsets this is encouraging a mutual attraction and legitimate ship tease. By the views of a Western mindset however, where all of San's fellow Youth Association members are 20 or older while San herself is 16, this is very much illegal.

Both a decent example of values dissonance, and a question of what the heck that hair color was to get that reaction in Madokaworld.

While hints in story hint this was more about being FormerlyFat, her issues with who she used to be and never being able to be who she wanted to be that come up in her inner thoughts have been seen by fans as applying just as well to being a trans girl, if not better.
