Although there is still progress to be made, the idea of being too big to arrest is becoming questionable at best and laughably quaint at worst after the Harvey Weinstein scandal. On the other hand, it also serves as a reminder that there are people out there who, although their ''reputation'' has been irreparably tarnished, [[TruthInTelevision still don't actually go to jail]].

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Fans want to know what this Mario would have to say to his brother Luigi. It's possible he was the one Mario called a cum dumpster at the end of Episode 4, but this is not known to be confirmed. Other than that, he's only mentioned passingly in Episode 1.
* ValuesDissonance: As funny as this series is even today, [[UnintentionalPeriodPiece there is no denying that it is rather dated]]. If Mario acted the way he did here in a video made now, he would be criticized for his behavior. For example:
** He fat shames Bowser and Yoshi.
** He says the word [[NWordPrivileges "faggot"]] multiple times.
** He acts [[DomesticAbuse verbally and sexually abusive]] towards Peach.
** Arguably, there's also the [[DepravedHomosexual Thwomp]] who gets [[PlayedForLaughs played for relatively light laughs]] despite [[DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale sexually harassing Mario]]. He exists for no real reason other than simple [[UnusualEuphemism gay sex euphemisms]].

* FridgeHorror: It's not hard to imagine this constantly-angry Mario one day [[FunnyAneurysmMoment having a heart attack so big, it kills his whole fuckin' family]].
** Also, there's the implications of the level designers' idiocy as detailed in "WhatAnIdiot".

** Arguably, there's also the [[DepravedHomosexual Thwomp]] who gets [[PlayedForLaughs played for relatively light laughs]] despite [[DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale sexually harassing Mario]]. He exists for no real reason other than simple [[UnusualEuphemism gay sex euphemisms]].
* WhatAnIdiot: The designers from Episode 2. Mario has every reason to be angry at them. They're Toads, so in theory Peach is ''their'' princess, who has been kidnapped by Bowser. So what do they do? ''Put obstacles in the way of the guy trying to save her.''
** Actually, Mario has more than reason to be angry; by putting bottomless pits and the like in the courses, they are ''[[FridgeHorror willingly putting him in]] [[GameOver mortal danger]]''. If he didn't shake some sense into them, [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom they would be their own kingdom's undoing]] [[TheBadGuyWins and Bowser would finally win]].

* CriticalResearchFailure: In Episode 2, Mario claims that he is forced to [[UseYourHead smash blocks with his head]] just to get power-ups. ''[[CommonKnowledge Mario does not smash blocks with his head.]]'' He hits them with his fist.

However, considering this doesn't stop him from kidnapping Peach again in Episode 4, it's up in the air just how remorseful he really is. Some fans believe that the episodes are not shown in chronological order either.

** Episode 2's premise, really. The idea of Mario yelling at level designers would cause one to think that this episode is a TakeThat to people who make [[NintendoHard bullshit levels]] in VideoGame/SuperMarioMaker, but it predates that game by about ''five years''.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: The whole series, really, but Episode 1 is the standout example because of how Mario manages to ''rescue Peach by yelling at her''. Even Bowser is unable to bring himself to do anything about him.

* BadassDecay: In Episode 5, sure, Mario gave out his usual TheReasonYouSuckSpeech and all, and it's not necessarily that he'd gone soft by apologizing for going too far, but this is the first time in the entire series that he is ''genuinely unable to get through to the enemies bothering him''. The Boos aren't really sorry for being little asshats, and the Thwomp outright doesn't care. Mario pretty much just half-assed it this time around, telling the Thwomp to get lost and otherwise just screaming that he hates haunted castles. This is the same Mario who ''screamed at the level designers for almost two minutes straight''.
