** The Dark Tribes in general. They are made up of Scorpions, Spiders, and Bats who steal so much Chi from Mount Cavora, the Chi Falls manage to dry up. Since the world of Chima is very dependent on Chi, the fact that it could have all been taken away from them would certainly place them in a dire scenario.
** The Ice Hunters. An AlwaysChaoticEvil tribe of undead ice age creatures with the ability to freeze solid every place they show up in. And they've proven to be the biggest challenge for our heroes so far. Their minifigures are littered with gruesome detail; exposed ribs and muscle fibres, trunks that have rotted to the bone, a vulture whose head has been literally bolted back together, entire body parts replaced by ice, and a character outright named "Mottrot".

* GrowingTheBeard: Over time, the episodes became much more coherent, having much less Narm in the voice acting and dialogue, and more improved characterization for the cast and writing for the plot.

* FandomRivalry: At first, a pretty rough one began between fans of ''WesternAnimation/{{Ninjago}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/LegendsOfChima'', with fans of the former usually considering the latter show to be a ReplacementScrappy for when Ninjago was off the air after its second season. Though over time, this did wear off.

* HilariousInHindsight: The FandomRivalry between fans of this show and ''Ninjago'' becomes this with TheReveal in the latter show that Chima and Ninjago's realms are neighboring realities (To the point that Lloyd and Morro ended up briefly appearing in Chima during their fight in the fifth season finale)

* WhatAnIdiot:
** Cragger cut the rope that was being used to save his parents because he thinks he can lift up a giant crocodile tank with his bare hands.
** After being trapped at the bottom of the chasm with his wife, Crominus assures her that he has the utmost confidence in Cragger knowing that the lions are not at fault and holding no hard feelings against them. But mere minutes earlier, Crominus had ''declared war'' on the lions because Cragger fired a croc-flare. When Cragger tried to explain that it was an accident, Crominus replied, "We can't take that chance, son!" and continued to fight anyway.
** An oft-mocked example is Eris frantically trying to restart her Speedor as Cragger charges her, rather than leaping out and flying away.

** The Dark Tribes in general.

** Whenever anyone in the show says the word "Chi", it sounds like they're about to say "cheese". The best example would be the scene where Laval confronts Cragger and says, "Drop the Chi, swamp creature!", which sounds just like, "Drop the cheese, [[Franchise/StarWars womp]] creature!" Unfortunately, since Chi is integral to the plot, characters talk about it often, making it impossible to take it seriously when it sounds like they're talking about ''[[InherentlyFunnyWords cheese]]'' all the time.

* GrowingTheBeard: Over time, the episodes have become more coherent, with much less Narm and increasing CharacterDevelopment.
* HilariousInHindsight: The hatred of some Ninjago fans towards the show becomes this with TheReveal that Chima and Ninjago's realms are neighboring realities.

* {{Narm}}: The dialogue and story can be surprisingly clever, but some of the voice acting can be downright painful. Then there is the dialogue that isn't clever AND is narmy.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: The lions. They claim to be the first race to have gained sapience, and as such believe themselves to be closer to chi than all the other tribes. [[FantasticRacism In other words, they're the first and superior race.]] [[spoiler:Subverted with the reveal of the Phoenixes, which are ''the'' first race to have developed sapience and are the ones that actually live on Mount Cavora]].

* FanPreferredCouple: There's a minority of fans who still prefer Laval/Eris over Laval/Li'ella and Eris/Rogon.

* ReplacementScrappy:
** Before it was announced that ''Ninjago'' would return in 2014, many Ninjago fans saw the entire ''Chima'' theme and TV show as a ReplacementScrappy for ''Ninjago''.
** There are fans of ''[=ThunderCats=]'' who feel this way because the main character of the show is a lion prince with the same color armor and hair as Lion-O.
