* JerkassWoobie: Downplayed, but Ashley qualifies. She's a BrattyHalfPint, but she only behaves that way because she's starved for love and attention, and her parents care more about their image and careers than her, to the point of blocking any way for Ashley to be helped. Even at the end when her mom is finally being affectionate, you can see it's only for the cameras.

* DesignatedVillain: Though the show doesn't dwell on it, Cragen is clearly supposed to be "the bad guy" for putting Olivia on desk duty after she repeatedly disobeys orders because she's doing so to try to help Ashley [[*]](and admittedly, she does save Ashley's life at one point, but it would not have happened had she not been there)[[/*]]. Never mind it's not a case for them to handle anyway because their department is for ''sex crimes'', not child abuse (unless the latter overlaps with the former).
