* EndingFatigue: The ending sequence takes entirely too much time. Decker screams helplessly in Konga's hand for several minutes before the British army shows up and begins firing on Konga for what feels like an eternity. Decker is then launched to his death by Konga, and then the audience is treated to about two more minutes of the army bombarding Konga in an obvious example of {{Padding}} and ShootTheMoney until Konga finally collapses and dies.

* SpecialEffectsFailure: Whenever we see Konga holding a person once he gets big enough he's obviously holding a doll, but at least the dolls actually vaguely resemble the character Konga is supposed to be holding and they didn't try to [[Film/AttackOfThe50FootWoman pass of an obvious baby doll as a fully-grown man]].

Whenever we see Konga holding a person once he gets big enough he's obviously holding a doll, but at least the dolls actually vaguely resemble the character Konga is supposed to be holding and they didn't try to [[Film/AttackOfThe50FootWoman pass of an obvious baby doll as a fully-grown man]].

** The ape suit looks ridiculous even for a 1961 film, Konga's transformation is marked by a silly rippling screen effect, and the small plane's explosion is just footage of flames clumsily superimposed over the footage of the aircraft.

* CompleteMonster: [[MadScientist Dr.]] Charles [[VillainProtagonist Decker]] is an English botanist obsessed with revolutionizing biology. Making his obsession known by [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals shooting Margaret's pet cat]], Charles injects a serum into the titular ape, causing him to grow to adult size. After a heated debate with Foster over his research, Decker hypnotizes Konga, and sends him to murder the dean. Longing for his name to be known to the scientific community, Decker murders Professor Tagore, who was also conducting research in plant growth. Charles lusts after his student, Sandra Banks, and upon getting into a brawl with Bob Kenton, he tasks Konga with [[MurderTheHypotenuse disposing the young rival]]. Feigning sympathy for the grieving Sandra, he attempts to [[AttemptedRape force himself]] onto her when she declines his offer to become his assistant. Viewing Konga as only a tool, he aims to [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness kill the primate]] despite the fact that Konga led him to the village; as he states, Africa has an endless supply of apes to experiment on. While he claims that he's hoping to advance humanity through his experiments, Decker truly desires fame and would blight any threats to his ego.

** When the military is shooting at Konga in front of Big Ben. Not only do the bullets fly in a zig-zag pattern, every single bullet seems to be missing and going right past the king-sized Konga... and, judging from Konga's pained roaring, somehow managing to completely miss and hit him at the same time!
