** For some, it becomes full-on ridiculous when [[spoiler: the penultimate chapter has Sora ''still'' get abused (this time by the Master of Masters and '''''Kingdom Hearts itself''''') even though Xehanort is dead and the story should be wrapping up. Even though Sora manages to escape returns home, their threat still remains to be resolved in the planned sequel.]]

* TheWoobie: ''Sora''. He's wanted by the main villains and gets tortured by several world villains in some way (Maleficent wants him to be her near-literal attack dog (referring to him as a 'pet'), Xehanort wants him as a vessel, Gaston ''shoots'' him, Dr. Facilier puts a hex on him, Bill Cipher tricks him and [[DemonicPossession hijacks his body]], the Organization [[KickTheDog kicks him every chance they get]], and Vanitas wants nothing more than to kill him), and the fact he tells his friends ''nothing'' only makes his HeroicFatigue ''worse''. Dude is in serious need for therapy.

[[spoiler: Even his status as the "King" of Kingdom Hearts itself doesn't help, as [[GeniusLoci Kingdom Hearts]] has no interest in anything but keeping Sora imprisoned in the realm of Kingdom Hearts and [[BitchInSheepsClothing abuses him to try and keep him there]].]]

This memetic mutation is more of a Whole Plot Reference than a proper meme. For it to qualify, the phrase in question would need to be commonly referred to. If there examples of "multiple people" using this phase, then they should be linked in said example.

* MemeticMutation: [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Kingdom Hearts Evangelion]] [[labelnote:Explanation]] Because of a large number of similarities between this fic and ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' (both have a protagonist with severe self-loathing issues that's related to a ManipulativeBastard who leads a secret organization and who works for an AssimilationPlot, both have the hero fight against a group of {{Eldritch Abomination}}s that try to bring TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt, and Sora being absorbed in Kingdom Hearts, then rejecting it is a parallel to how Shinji causes Instrumentality, then undoes it) caused quite a few fans to call this fic the Evangelion of ''Kingdom Hearts''.[[/labelnote]]

* TooBleakStoppedCaring: With all the near perpetual angst Sora goes through and the consistent ineffectiveness of the heroes to stop any of the Organization's schemes, the story can cross the line from tragic to simply exhausting.

Cleanup. About not liking working with the character in their work (only including them if forced), not what they think of them in the source work.

* CreatorsPest: [[spoiler: This is the main reason why Ansem the Wise was killed off, as Minijen has said on several occasions that she was annoyed by him in the games.]]

** [[spoiler: Doubly so in chapter 74 where the fully empowered Sora delivers an epic BreakThemByTalking to the old bastard before killing him.]]

* AuthorsSavingThrow: A considerable number of these for ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII''
** Sora, Donald, and Goofy have a more clearly defined goal than just going to random worlds trying to unlock the power of waking.
** The story's central premise picks up the "Sora as a potential Seeker of Darkness" plotline KHIII dropped. As a consequence, the story becomes ''significantly'' more focused on Sora's character, as opposed to how III gave him barely any emotional investment in the plot until the eleventh hour. It also makes him more directly relevant to the series lore, giving the story a much stronger emotional and narrative focus.
** We get a chapter addressing Kairi and Axel/Lea's training and how Kairi deals with her former kidnapper, details that the game never really went into. The story also gives Kairi a great deal more relevancy compared to the game, having a much larger role overall and having plenty of spotlight on her character.
** The WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}} chapter fixes a number of plot holes in the game's adaptation by reintroducing the Stabbington Brothers, having the Dam flood and camp scene, and giving an explanation for Flynn's escape from prison.
** Maleficient takes a major role again, targeting Sora as opposed to hunting down the Black Box.
