** The entire series takes a lot of cues from ''Franchise/OnePiece''. Doing so, the main characters are either based off one of the Strawhats, or have personality traits of a few.
*** Marvelous is very much like Luffy, only not a simpleton and is a lot smarter and more blunt. His motivations are also similar to Luffy's, only it's more of one for carrying on in someone's stead and finding the best treasures than being the pirate king.
*** Joe is very much Zorro, only with 2 swords, minus his first focus episode where he gets 5, and a, mostly, different backstory that fuels his motivations in the series.
*** Luka is Nami in personality, plain and simple. Loves money, is the first girl recruited after Marvelous recruited Joe, and can hold her own well in a fight. She also wanted to protect others on her planet from the Zangyack just as Nami wanted to protect her village from Arlong.
*** Doc has personality traits and uses on the crew analogous to Usopp, Franky, Chopper and Sanji, but is mostly based off Usopp in personality, as he's the technician, Ship Wright, and Doctor of the crew, hence his nickname, but is generally very timid, bumbling, and physically weak.
*** Ahim is very analogous to Robin, as she was the second female recruited to the crew, her planet was destroyed as Robin's island was, and is generally a very level-headed person, but is otherwise very timid and fragile. She could also have some things in common with Vivi, as she's a princess who works with the other main characters to defeat people causing injustices.
*** Gai is very much Franky and Sanji as well, but takes more of Franky's personality traits; being more extroverted with his over-the-top mannerisms, loud way of speaking, and more outgoing personality. He also has Luffy's general excitability when he thinks something is too cool.

* CompleteMonster: * [[ItsAllAboutMe Basco ta Jolokia]] represents SelfishEvil, and is far worse than his boss and his replacement/dad. He betrayed the Red Pirates, leaving Aka Red to his apparent demise and Marvelous alone, while stealing several of their gathered treasures under the pretense that "you have to sacrifice something to get something else", which means that if he wants something, he sacrifices anything to get it, and isn't above blackmail; hurting children; blowing up schools—and the students; and [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder betraying allies]], including his supposed MoralityPet Sally, for anything he wants. He does all this with a cheery smile, and is usually [[FauxAffablyEvil cheery and jovial]], but when he is the main focus, the situation gets even worse than when Space Empire Zangyack is the main focus.

Basco's disposition is usually [[FauxAffablyEvil cheery and jovial]], but when he is the main focus, [[KnightofCerebus the situation gets even worse]] than when Space Empire Zangyack is the main focus.

** Now even Gokaiger vs. Gavan is safe from this. Tetsu Inada confirmed in his twitter that Doggie Kruger/Dekamaster (who is close friends with Gavan in-universe) would '''not''' be appearing in this movie.

* MostWonderfulSound: Whenever the mobirates yells out the name of the sentai that the Gokaigers are transforming into.

* SpoiledByTheFormat: In many ways, #38 feels like a final episode. [[spoiler:The Gokaigers recover from their CurbStompBattle, learn AnAesop about seizing your dreams, earn their own grand power, and use it to kill both the BigBad (up to this point) and his right-hand man [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome in an epic manner]]]]. However, being a ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' series, we knew that there were some 12-15 episodes still remaining, and on top of that, not all the Greater Powers were gained.

** Episode 27, when Luka and Don [[FreakyFridayFlip body swap]], they don't modify Gokai Green's costume into a MiniDressOfPower, thus missing the chance of having the first female Green Ranger in ''Super Sentai'' history. But then #49 happens...
*** And later still, [[Series/ShurikenSentaiNinninger came the first official female green.]] V-Cinema, but still.
** Some decisions seems to be weird. Sure, Gokai Galleon Buster being introduced the way it was played nice, but it would have made much more sense if the introduction of a bazooka was made with Changeman's ultimate power, since this series introduced this concept to the sentai genre. Ohranger's ultimate power would go very nice if used to apply different hats to [=GokaiOh=]'s head.

** Episode 39, which is Megaranger's tribute, didn't have a Nejiranger like enemy. It would be really cool if they had it instead of Basco and Sally. Or if Basco had Nejiranger Ranger Keys and debuted them in that episode.
*** For that matter, the lack of keys for any of the other evil ranger teams - wouldn't it have been cool to see the evil [[Series/ChikyuuSentaiFiveman Ginga Sentai Gingaman]] fight the heroic Seijuu Sentai Gingaman to determine which team was the strongest Gingamen[[note]]They could of even had Basco obtain the Fiveman keys at some point and summon those to use against the Gokaigers, and then have the Gokaigers fight against them as the Gingamen, referencing how the Ginga Sentai Gingaman disguised themselves as the Fivemen[[/note]]? Or the team doing an all-female ranger change[[note]]with Marvelous, Joe, Doc, and Gai getting male versions of female ranger outfits[[/note]] to fight the [[Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger Flowery Kunochi Team]]? It wouldn't be so much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that in ''Series/ZyudenSentaiKyoryuger'', all the villains ended up getting ranger keys[[note]]Admittedly, toyline exclusive ones, but still[[/note]]...

*** Fortunately, Toei seems to have realized this, since Gavan vs Dekaranger will have Doggie Kruger appear.
** Show hands for those who thought that the rumor of the finale being a [[BookEnds Second Legend War]] was true?

** How did Gai's ability to merge ranger keys together ''not'' have a larger role beyond the Go-On Wings, Gold Mode and Gokai Christmas? At the very ''least'', combining all the red keys should have created an Aka Red key.

*** For some, the age of the StockFootage could be seen as NarmCharm, considering how prevalent they are for the franchise, and the fact that they remind the viewer of just how [[LongRunner long]] ''Super Sentai'' has been going on and bringing happiness to generations of children, which is fitting for a MilestoneCelebration.
** The majority of the CGI in the show is absolutely ''hideous'', especially the CGI Gokai-Oh used during the transformation sequences which looks worse than the CGI used in ''Gaoranger'', which came out a decade before ''Gokaiger''.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: In the western world, ''Gokaiger'' is one of the most popular Sentai series in recent history.

** In ''Series/KamenRiderDecade'', during his stay in Kabuto's world, Tsukasa talked about an explorer by the name of Vasco de Gama, who is similarly named to one Basco ta Jolokia. Bonus points for Vasco [[SpellMyNameWithAnS being interchangeable with Basco]].

*** In ''Gokaiger'', GokaiYellow, a pirate who dual-wields [[WhipItGood whip swords]] is played by M.A.O. In ''IBO'', M.A.O. plays Julieta Julis - a mech pilot who later pilots a mobile suit that dual-wields whip swords...who is introduced '''HUNTING PIRATES'''.

** Basco ta Jolokia: an effective KnightOfCerebus that can fight against the Gokaigers with or without RangerKeys.

* EvilIsCool: The Gormin have become some of the best {{Mooks}} ever in a Sentai series, especially after the poker game in episode 10. It helps that they're portrayed as not quite as mindless as many of the grunts before and after them.
