* AmericansHateTingle: This franchise might be popular in its home country, but America absolutely won't touch it because of the stigma attached to shows for little girls, and even in the fansubbing scene, very few people care about it. And while it got exported to Europe, it didn't do that well there.
** For a character example there is Labra, who's reviled by a lot of western fans for being extremely annoying, but Japan seems to love her to death, as proven by this Pixiv popularity poll.

The Death Battle part was a shoehorned meme.

** Jewelpets should not be in WebAnimation/DeathBattle.A big Jewelpet fan repeatedly suggested that the Jewelpets should participate in Death Battle. Knowing that they are as likely to be underestimated as they are powerful, he sincerely suggested the likes of Trixie Lulamoon vs Luea, Diana vs Tempest Shadow, Dian vs Discord, and Ruby and Rinko vs Ash and Pikachu (the first three of which are JP vs WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic match-ups). The fan then got salty and started making memes about Death Battle not featuring the Jewelpets.

Audience Reactions cant be subverted. Also adding an example.

** Subverted with Europe. The franchise was marketed to hell and back when the first series started airing there, but enthusiasm for it died down a year or so later, with a lot of countries only airing the first two seasons (sometimes, not even the second one). When it came time for Sunshines debut, only Portugal was left, thanks to the efforts of Luk Internacional (to give you an idea, they also brought the entirety of Anime/OnegaiMyMelody), which had just given up with it in Spain despite Twinkes mild success there.

** Topaz is one of those Jewelpets that gets very little attention in any season but she's surprisingly popular, probably because of a somewhat different design. That she gets a rather unique personality as a stoic fashion designer in Kira Deco helps too.
