Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The humans in cutscenes are a bit UncannyValley, but the Martians look impressively realistic. The in-game graphics are also pretty good for the day.

* FridgeLogic: It is arguable that the more interesting outcome would be the human victory due to how much it would derail history since:
** Great Britain would get an immense technological and prestige boost from single-handedly defeating the Martians, which would have...interesting effects on Earth geopolitics, possibly making the UK a dominant superpower for the better part of the 20th century.
** Humanity's first interaction with alien life having been one of hostility, not to mention the aliens being relatively close and possibly invading and colonising Venus would likely breed paranoia and xenophobia on Earth as humans would be constantly under threat from above.
** Finally, successfully defeating the Martians could spark a wave of human (and more disturbingly - western) supremacy and chauvinism since the "old and degenerate" Martians were defeated by a "young, noble and vital" western power.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The game uses the [=ULLAdubULLA=] remix album for its soundtrack, and certain tracks (such as ''The Fighting Machine'') make for undeniably awesome battle music.

** The Martian intro movie includes a badass military-march version of ''The Red Weed''.
** The instrumental version of ''Spirit of Man'' is surprisingly moving.
* FridgeBrilliance: Where is the rest of the British armed forces when their homeland is under threat? Probably fighting in other parts of the world against foreign powers taking advantage of the Martian invasion!
** It might seem baffling at first glance that for all their advanced tech, the Martians seemed focused on taking over Britain rather than going for a wholesale global invasion. But considering the clout and prestige UsefulNotes/TheBritishEmpire had on the world stage, defeating "the bastion of human civilization" would be a demoralizing blow to the rest of humanity. At the same time, however, the Martians as simply too desperate and few to mount a large-scale invasion that a victory in Britain is enough for the immediate term.
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: When playing as the aliens, destroying an enemy base is marked by the Martians belting out their trademark "ULLAAA!"
** "The Martian base has fallen sir!" and it's equivalents.
* NightmareFuel: The creepy telepathic whispering that plays on the Martian war map if you have the music turned off.
