* IKnewIt: When the game was first announced, people were joking about Sumireko posting her pictures on Instagram in particular. When the game came out, that turned out to be exactly the case. The title screen has images in the background that are made to look like Instagram posts (the filename is even "title_insta.png"), and there's four trophies that use the term "Bulle-stagrammer".

* ScrappyMechanic: The teleportation suffers from wonky controls. It's activated by pressing Shift twice in a row without holding any direction, so it's pretty easy to accidentally activate if you find yourself focusing and unfocusing frequently. And when you do need to use the mechanic, having to hit Shift twice makes it annoying to teleport in time to get away from a threat. It can also make repeated use of the mechanic painful, and has an annoying habit of triggering Sticky Keys. Many players prefer to use an unofficial patch that just lets them use C to teleport instead.

I've... never had that happen to me

* ScrappyMechanic: The teleportation suffers from wonky controls. It's activated by pressing Shift twice in a row without holding any direction, which is fairly easy to do by accident (which will probably either send you straight into a bullet or throw you off for long enough to get you killed anyway) if you find yourself focusing and unfocusing frequently. And when you do need to use the mechanic, having to hit Shift twice makes it annoying to teleport in time to get away from a threat. Mapping "teleport" to the unused C button instead would probably have been more practical.

* GoodBadBugs: After dying, if you select either, "Save a Replay" or "Operations Manual", press Escape, then R followed by Escape twice more, you'll respawn akin to losing a life in the mainline games. At first glance, this seems incredibly game breaking, but for some reason, you can't take pictures after doing this. This makes the bug extremely situational, especially in later levels where taking even one picture of the boss is a challenge in itself. Along with this, if you were holding Shift when you died, you'll lose the ability to ''shoot bullets'', and will be permanently stuck moving at that speed until you exit the level.

* ContestedSequel: Some fans like the game because of it focusing on Sumireko, fun photo gameplay, great music, and many [[EnsembleDarkhorse fan favorite]] characters returning. Others believe it's a rushed, unbalanced and boring mess.

Broken Base entry moved from the Touhou YMMV page and converted to Contested Sequel since Broken Base can't be used for the reception of a game and it's not a series-wide debate either.
