* CompleteMonster: The [[NoNameGiven Vietnamese colonel]] functions as a {{sadist}}ic, brutal officer dedicated to making others suffer. When he feels insulted, he shoots a woman's husband in the head and attempts to have her brutalized, [[DisproportionateRetribution solely because she complained too much]]; he executes their Vietnamese driver as well. Once he begins hunting the heroes, the Colonel terrorizes a tribe into working for him via executions and when he gets his hands on any of the good guys he has them [[ColdBloodedTorture horribly tortured]]. [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even his own men have enough of him and try to leave]], after which he promptly executes one solely for spite.

* StrangledByTheRedString: In a couple of hours Chan Chung goes from pointing a gun at a girl called Misuchi to having sex with her.
* WhatAnIdiot: Amongst other things, Chin and his crew have apparently set out on their mission with ensuring they have enough gasoline to make it back, and so have to walk the rest of the way. Unsurprisingly, this marks the point where they first begin to be challenged and get killed.

* AwesomeMusic: Whatever the film's flaws, the guitar chord they use just before the firefights is pretty awesome.

* CompleteMonster: The Vietnamese Colonel is effectively devoid of all positive personality characteristics. He shot Louise because his wife complained too much, and even if you believe his FreudianExcuse about the French, he had the Asian driver executed before finding out about that. Once he begins hunting Chin, he terrorizes a tribe into working with him through executions and doesn’t care about lives of his soldiers, killing one out of spite when they finally leave him.
