* HarsherInHindsight: The main premise of this special, how all the Dragons suddenly leave Berk and everyone is afraid they won't see them again, hits alot harder with the ending of the [[WesternAnimation/HowToTrainYourDragonTheHiddenWorld third film]] in which the dragons really do leave for good never to be seen again.

* This is an alternative interpretation of why Toothless leaves: When he realizes Hiccup has given him a way to fly without a rider, I think he's HURT. He takes it as a rejection - Hiccup doesn't want to fly with him anymore. When he goes off and stays away looking for the helmet, it's not just a gift he's looking for - he's looking for a way to earn Hiccups forgiveness for whatever he's done wrong. Of course, if they could really talk to each other he'd know he doesn't need to, but they can't. By the end of the trilogy they virtually will be able to, but now it's just a lot of feelings and guessing.
