* CultClassic: While the original game fell into obscurity for years, it remains a handful of following in Japan. And with the addition of overseas' newly-founded interests, this prompted Konami to make a sequel/revival game for the modern consoles and UsefulNotes/{{Steam}} (the latter due to Konami's recent returning to PC gaming and running e-Sports activities in Japan).

** The problem really isn't so much the fact that the game is a Dead Cells clone, but a lesser copy of it: worse movement, boring procedurally-generated levels and just a general lack of content that make each run less tedious. Unfortunately, because of the state the game was released as Konami has seemingly halteed further development on the game, meaning that the rest of the planned content (which was confirmed since day 1 and most is already in the game files) will never see the light of day...

* HilariousInHindsight: Decriers of ''Undying Moon'' (or just Konami in general) like to say that the game was just copying ''VideoGame/DeadCells''. Cue Game Awards 2022, suddenly it turns out Konami has partnered with Motion Twin to lend one of their [=IPs=], ''Franchise/{{Castlevania}}'', as a big DLC setting for ''VideoGame/DeadCells'' itself.

* BrokenBase: As with anything that has to do with Konami in the 2020's, years after the controversy that crushed their reputation [[AmericansHateTingle (mostly in the West)]], ''Undying Moon'' faces an uphill battle of reception. On one hand, there's the camp who believe that this (or really, just anything) is not enough to convince them that 'Konami has learned their lessons' and continue to lambast them for 'still being an evil company that doesn't make games', with an addition of accusing it for [[FollowTheLeader copying]] ''VideoGame/DeadCells'' (even if they're basically just indie games of [[{{Roguelike}} the same genre]]). On the other hand, there's the camp who's welcoming that this is a normal, harmless game by Konami and had their moments of fun and is fine with the [[FollowTheLeader copying]] since it's a normal, accepted practice in the industry.

** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnQLsfz6uv0 Final Boss]] theme. Like with Getsu Fuma's theme, it gained an awesome metal remix in ''Harmony of Despair'', [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FGj5YHI3uY Ryukotsuki]]. ''Undying Moon'' once more cements itself as Ryukotsuki's theme with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knzqZzfOFbg Unfettered Chaos: the Ryukotsuki]]. And he's only the ''first boss'' this time!

* [[SugarWiki/CrowningMusicOfAwesome Awesome Music]]: The big two:
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNt0WMaeULY Overworld]] theme. Eventually, it gained a great rocking remix in ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaHarmonyOfDespair'' (with said remix even returning in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'') as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwT_l2YAGmA Go! Getsu Fuma]]. And then came ''Undying Moon'' with its own version, [[https://youtu.be/ur75y6XFwGQ Onwards! Getsu Fuma]]. This more triumphant, Japanese-flavored rearrangement comes in an awesome ThemeMusicPowerUp moment when [[spoiler: our hero activates his Demonization to even out the odds against Getsu Rando in their battle.]]
