Now an Index disallowing examples.

* AcceptableTargets: Just about everything that was popular or common back in the 90s.

Were Still Relevant Dammit is not a trope anymore

* WereStillRelevantDammit: Justified, given that the comic takes place in the 1990s, but the references are still a little off-putting for some due to how rampant they are (see "Reference Overdose" above).

* ShockingSwerve: In the original, Joel sucking up to his boss at Mcdonald's grants him [[spoiler:[[http://jbwarner86.deviantart.com/art/F16-McWorld-Politics-P6-444895472 a month long work transfer to Moscow (still under USSR control in 1990)]]]].

* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: The main problem people have with ''Nineteen-Ninety-Something''. Most of the characters are assholes at best and just straight-up horrible people at worst, and the setting is generally portrayed as a [[CrapsackWorld bleak place where nobody wants to spend any time in]]. Not helping is that a majority of these events are PlayedForLaughs.

* TheScrappy: Joel in the NNS reboot isn't as well-liked as his original F16 counterpart, due to him [[TookALevelInJerkass taking pretty large levels of jerkass]]. [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap Fortunately, he finally got some proper character development in later story arcs which won back several of his detractors]].
** Joel's younger sister Katy is also this to some, due to how [[ItsAllAboutMe self-absorbed]] she tends to be.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: In F16, nothing overly sexual happens and the characters look like they would be shoe-ins for cartoons in the '90s but there is a lot of swearing including a fair amount of ClusterFBomb. This isn't really the case anymore with NNS, which, as noted above, is more DarkerAndEdgier than F16.

Broken Base requires two sides

* BrokenBase: Reception for the ''Nineteen-Ninety-Something'' reboot has been very mixed, mainly for having a more [[DarkerAndEdgier mature tone]] than ''Forever 16'' and the characters being turned into ignorant jerks.

One Of Us is now Just For Fun per this TRS thread. Also not a YMMV trope.

* OneOfUs: The comic itself could be called "One Of Us: The Comic".
