* EsotericHappyEnding: [[spoiler: Daniel and Mia's story ends with them living happily in the Everglades together; why was is necessary for their memories of their friends and old life being erased as well as their friends memories, save for Emma and Andie, it pretty much amounts their development over the series moot]].

** Along with TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Season three ends with Emma taking Mia under her protection from the Witches Council and accepting her among her friends group. This arc could have continued into the fourth season to see how Mia and her relationships with the main cast could be explored. However season four revolves around the [[CosmicRetcon Continuum Break]] which rewrites Emma, Jax, Daniel and Mia's histories; as with many things from this arc, the Break pushes Mia and her storyline aside in favour of Emma and Jax's relationship, with Mia simply living out the the Everglades with Daniel. What makes it especially jarring is that Principal Torres is briefly brought BackFromTheDead in the fourth season, and never interacts with Mia, despite Torres being the one who killed her parents. And on top of all of that, season four strait up forgets that Mia is a Kanay.
** As mentioned in CreatorsPet, for all the time Francisco shows up, he ''never'' learns about the existence of magic, or that his daughter is, as well as his deceased wife, a witch. This could have given Emma and Francisco a bit of character development as father and daughter, but because this never happens, it really makes Francisco feel irreleveant despite constantly getting involved at different plot points.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Deigo's [[spoiler: glowing tattoo when he uses his newfound powers to thaw Mac out of a block of ice]].
* WhatAnIdiot:
** A combination of WeirdnessCensor and ArbitrarySkepticism in the early episodes, Maddie initially shows of her powers without intending to, most notably when she makes it rain in the hallways and Daniel say's it's normal for Maddie. When Maddie and Emma both realize they are witches, they initially pass it off as rubbish.
** To convince Maddie that she has her powers back, the gang actually expected her to miss the giant rope harness in the middle of her own bedroom Sophie was hanging from and Diego awkwardly and obviously hiding in the curtains. Needless to say, it didn't work.
** In Season 3, Mia barges into Daniel's house looking to recover her necklace, which Emma took to help her perform a spell (the crystal in the necklace inhibits the magic of all witches except for TheChosenOne, who can use it to enhance her powers instead). The spell has an EquivalentExchange effect that's tied to the crystal, so when Mia holds it, it starts affecting her. Despite this, Mia refuses to let go of it and even fights Emma over it when Emma runs over and tries to get it away from her.

* FanPreferredCouple: Jax and Emma.

* CreatorsPet: Francisco Alonso, Emma's father, gets a large ammount of screentime and finds himself in the middle of different plot points, despite his lack of relevence to any of the main storylines. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the RunningJoke with this guy (being his dislike of Daniel, and Ursula's unreciprocated crush on him) quickly gets old and unfunny. On top of that, his constant ParentalObliviousness to his daughter being a witch and what's really going on in her life, makes his irrelevance really stick out. The fact he constantly pulls the {{Jerkass}} card in seasons two and three and never gets any sort of [[KarmaHoudini calling out or comupance]], doesn't exactly make him the most endearing character.

He was a jerk who kept intruding on Emma and Daniel's relationship, as well as constantly pulling pranks on Daniel or framing him for his pranks. He was open about his intentions to TakeOverTheWorld, was willing to destroy the Magic Realm over Emma breaking up with him, and ''admits'' to not caring if his friends or family could die. He initially had a number of [[FreudianExcuse Freudian Excuses]] regarding his parents, but these are all made irrelevant do to revelations about them in season 4. Even his HeelFaceTurn and subsequent altruism was done to get back in Emma's good graces, and we are supposed to sympathize with him when he's punished or resented, despite [[NeverMyFault never owning up to what he did]] and acts entitled to others forgiveness. When Emma gets back together with Jax, he acts jealous when Emma tries to reach out to Daniel. [[spoiler:Also the universe altering itself to have Jax replace Daniel in their friends lives is supposed to be seen as a good thing.]]

* TheScrappy: Ursula, who pretty much planned on mooching off of Maddie's magic. In season 2 she uses Maddie's powers behind her back after Maddie looses them and puts Emma's father under a love spell.

** ''Korra'' "lost" to ''Every Witch Way'' when it got yanked from Nickelodeon's schedule. ''Every Witch Way'' is more representative of the typical Nickelodeon KidCom than Korra which is aimed more squarely at adults, but despite this ''Every Witch Way'' was aired right before season three Korra episodes. The fact that the show aimed at the younger demographic with the simpler premise thrived whereas the more adult show was banished to online screening only, upset a few people.
** And before ''that'', a lot of ''HouseOfAnubis'' fans weren't pleased to see another foreign remake broadcast in telenovela format in place of a season 4. Didn't really help that the protagonist here is called TheChosenOne too.

* VillainSue: Jax, even with his HeelFaceTurn. Throughout season two, Jax was able to get away with his meschievious actions for the most part, and after his plan to take over the world fails, the most punishment he gets is boot camp. He also isn't defeated, just defects to Emma's side at the last minute. Comes to a head where not only does he get Emma, but also [[spoiler: the universe changes itself so that he was ''always'' Emma's boyfriend in lieu of Daniel, who isn't part of anyone's lives in this reality. When that is undone, Emmma changes to said reality at the end of the series.]]

* RonTheDeathEater: Daniel gets this treatment on par with Jax's DracoInLeatherPants, being made out to be a jerk for breaking up with Emma (for keeping the fact she her magic back a secret), and for cheating on her with Mia, despite that Mia had him under a spell. As such, Damiel is made the designated ButtMonkey.
*** She truly crosses it when she thought she killed Emma and reacted with pride.

* BrokenBase: Related to the Fandom Rivalry example below: not just ''Korra'' but a few other shows having been yanked off the air (like ''{{Victorious}}'' and ''WendellAndVinnie'') while ''Every Witch Way'' has been extended to a third season has made this show an easy target. What's really not helping are the apparent low production values, what some find to be [[LargeHam questionable acting]] on the part of all cast members and an extremely choppy and disjointed plot (especially in the first season when literally half the entire show was left on the cutting room floor).
** The bad acting can be forgiven in that many of the actors are not native English speakers. Which is admittedly confusing for an English language remake.
** The inevitable Shipping Wars between Demma and Jemma fans, though not quite as bad as other shows as Jemma has a hefty numerical advantage in the fanbase.

** The whole show has become a Scrappy Series to many fans of other shows on Nickelodeon that have been canceled during the time ''Every Witch Way'' had been aired and renewed, most infamously the aforementioned ''Korra'' example.
