After the Ancient Darkness, a malicious entity responsible for famine and widespread death, was [[SealedEvilInACan sealed away]] by Sir William's ancestors, Sir William was tasked with guarding the Ancient Darkness so it wouldn't escape again. Tired of his duty and [[AmbitionIsEvil desiring to claim elemental powers he was forbidden to possess]], Sir William [[FaceHeelTurn released the Ancient Darkness]], promising to let it freely cause wanton destruction so long as it helps him TakeOverTheWorld. Sir William even went as far as [[WouldHurtAChild kidnapping and sacrificing dozens of children]] just to help the Ancient Darkness gain more power. Dubbing himself "Elijah" and posing as a young rabbit, the Ancient Darkness sent the hero Dusty and his allies on a quest to gain the elemental powers. After they acquire them and confront Sir William, Sir William tries to kill the heroes after they refuse his offer of [[WeCanRuleTogether joining him]] in world domination; the Ancient Darkness promptly murders Sir William so it can control the world on its own.
