* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Halfway into Season 1, an EnemyCivilWar breaks out between Neceron's forces and a group of rebels led by Treek, one of Neceron's foes. This subplot focuses heavily on the dragons and shows that they're not AlwaysChaoticEvil after all and even gives some of them (namely Vlad) a lot more depth as opposed to being one-note side villains. This subplot is wrapped up in less than three episodes and Treek is PutOnABus, and the dragons (minus Vlad) go back to being generic villains.

* SoBadItsGood: The best way (some would say the only way) to enjoy this series is to [[MST3KMantra shut off your brain and accept everything that happens]]. The plot and characters are generic, and the overall premise is similar to ''Anime/DigimonFrontier''. But this show takes its absurd concept and fully commits to it the best it can, and having giant dinosaurs get into fights with talking dragons is always pleasant to see.

* {{Narm}}: The English dub is laughable at best and annoying at worst. Particularly what stands out are the fight scenes, where it just sounds like a bunch of men grunting, growling, and screaming at each other as opposed to sounding like animals.

* CompleteMonster: [[CardCarryingVillain Neceron]] is the lord of all dragons and the BigBad of season 1. Desiring more power, Neceron broke the treaty between dinosaurs and dragons and declared war on the dinosaurs. He then spent several years ordering his dragon armies to eradicate his foes and kidnap humans to use as slave labor. When the Dinofroz arrive and start interfering with Neceron's plans, Neceron repeatedly tries to destroy them all, even going as far as nearly drowning the residents in a village just to lure them out of hiding. After one of his generals tries to start a rebellion, Neceron and his army simply kill all of the rebels without hesitation. Upon finding out that the Dinofroz are merely four young boys, Neceron and his dragons kidnap three of them, and he threatens to [[WouldHurtAChild kill them]] all one by one if they don't surrender. He later [[BadBoss drains all of the power from his three loyal generals]] and leaves them for dead before going after Tom Carter in his Dinofroz form. Once Neceron begins to lose the fight, he tries to make Tom submit by threatening to murder his father right in front of him.
