** Upon his arrival in Belleville, Crypto stops at a cafe and is served coffee by a waiter, which baffles pox as the average humans are usually terrified of him. Crypto states that it's either because the French think all foreigners are weird, or that it may be just the beret he's wearing. When he takes it off to test his theory, the waiter recoils in sheer terror, then reverts when Crypto puts the hat back on. Pox wonders aloud why they didn't come to France when they first arrived.

* AcceptablePoliticalTargets: Emperor Meningitis is a parody of stereotypical depictions of UsefulNotes/RichardNixon.

* ItsEasySoItSucks: Part of the reason this game and ''Big Willy Unleashed'' failed was due to their lack of difficulty and the buff of several weapons in the game, making DNA collecting very easy.

* AcceptablePoliticalTargets: Emperor Meningitis is a parody of stereotypical depictions of UsefulNotes/RichardNixon.
* AntiClimaxBoss: Played unfortunately straight, as most of the bosses feel unfinished, and some are mostly immobile. Especially if you have an [[MoreDakka upgraded Ion Detonator]]. Only [[spoiler: Henri Crousteau]] feels like a proper boss fight.

* HeartwarmingInHindsight: By the end of the game, Crypto and Pox part ways from each other on good terms, with Crypto promising that they’ll meet again in 10 years. ''Path of the Furon'' came out in 2009 in the EU, with the remake of the first game being announced in 2019. Looks like Crypto kept his promise in a way after all.
* HilariousInHindsight: Crypto bemoans the idea of making his casino more family-friendly, saying he hates children because they're 'too smart to gamble'. Come the lootbox fiasco brought to the spotlight in gaming roughly a decade later, in which one of the main criticisms against LootBoxes was the real possibility of goading children playing games with these mechanics into gambling.
* ItsEasySoItSucks: Part of the reason this game and ''Big Willy Unleashed'' failed was due to their lack of difficulty and the buff of several weapons in the game, making DNA collecting very easy.
* PortingDisaster: The reason the [=PS3=] version was [[NoExportForYou never released in North America]].
* ReplacementScrappy:
** The Nexos to the Blisk. They look similar and even have a similar reveal (complete with OhCrap moment from Pox), but don't nearly leave the same impact.
** Veronica Stone is often viewed by the fandom as just being filler to replace Natalya, and unlike Natalya at least actually helping Crypto in the game, Veronica is merely there to get new things to broadcast and for eye-candy.
* RetroactiveRecognition: Mikey Molinari is played by Creator/RickPasqualone, just two years before he would become known for voicing Vito Scaletta from ''VideoGame/MafiaII''.
* {{Sequelitis}}: Its ObviousBeta nature met it a scathing reception and killed the series.
* TearJerker: When Henri Crousteau, a character easily dismissed as a FrenchJerk nd ThatOneBoss to boot, is defeated, he [[HeelRealization realises the truth that led him to do what he did]] and sincerely apologises to Crypto [[spoiler:before dying]].
* ThatOneBoss: Crousteau. He can empty Crypto's maximally-upgraded health bar in exactly two hits, and whittling down ''his'' health bar with the few weapons you have that can hurt him takes ''forever''.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: For those who didn't hate Natalya in the second game, her [[spoiler:clone suffering an off-screen death which is then brushed over]] can seem rather anti-climactic.

* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: Perhaps the only thing ''Path of the Furon'' did right was the humor. A notable example coming from Crypto and Pox discussing this new idea about 'video games.' Pox dismissed Mario, Sonic and Halo as ridiculous ideas, and then, being the genius that he is, suggests that they should make games based on popular movies. [[TheProblemWithLicensedGames What could go wrong?]]
** At the very beginning of the game, Pox is busy chewing out Crypto for deviating from his original mission on Earth in order to open a casino, accusing him of GoingNative. Crypto offers to cut Pox in for 5% of the profits if he stops whining, to which the latter immediately agrees.
** The RunningGag of someone pronouncing the name of Shen Long as "Shen Loooooooong". Even the bad guy does it.
** At the start of the last stage, Crypto destroys a large red forcefield blocking his path with the Saucer's Death Ray. It is immediately replaced by a similar, green one.
