** There is also a possibility that Joel, clearly being a weak willed person, was already a victim of Oscar's abusive and controlling tendencies. His lack or resistence could very well be because he simply can't say no to Oscar.
** Given Gloria's memory problems, the fact her flashback self seems to realise what George is doing before he smashes the diorama, the fact she remembers very little about him and their friendship compared to how much he remembers about her, and the above-mentioned likelihood that Joel was also a victim of his abuse, its highly likely that he had been openly abusive in their youth and she's merely forgotten what he was like, instead of them actually being childhood friends. Its not uncommon for bullies and their victims to mis-remember one-another as actually being a friend because of a nostalgia filter, and given her memory problems likely date back to the incident that created their monsters, its highly likely Oscar is aware she has a shit memory for details given he's ''immediately'' taking advantage of it.

In order for Oscar to realize that Gloria is at his feet he has to 1- figure that Gloria figured out to send her avatar to his locate she would actually play to go all the way to Seoul 2- actually be looking through his Avatars eyes to see where she was. He was instead focused on her Avatar which was standing in front of him causing him to panic so he had no time to think where Gloria is or how her Avatar got to his location. As seen in the movie self control was not Oscars strongpoint.

* HilariousInHindsight: [[spoiler:Oscar]] is revealed to have violent temper fits - it's a little funny that his monster isn't an [[WesternAnimation/TheAngryBirdsMovie angry bird.]]]]
* JerkassHasAPoint: Tim is definitely overly harsh to Gloria, but her drinking habits at the start 'are' definitely out of control, and she's stopped looking for work after a year in order to party more; something did need to change. And even after he reaches out to her in her hometown when she's stopped drinking (which he couldn't know for sure), it appears that she she still isn't taking her job search seriously, ignoring looking for jobs in her field of interest to instead settle into a job at a bar that might put her at risk to start drinking again (granted, she's more concerned with more pressing matters at that point rather than job searching, but Tim doesn't know that).
