This entry doesn't have anything to do with Alternative Character Interpretation, which is about different interpretations of a character and what makes them tick. It's perfectly fine to be uncomfortable with how the series presents certain relationships, but that's already covered under more fitting tropes like Squick and Values Dissonance.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: The manga goes out of its way to present nearly every deviant relationship as true love, and avoids sexual expressions of any kind (even kissing) to ensure it all comes across with innocence. Much of the audience, having no truck with the saccharine presentation, points out that if these relationships aren't sexual now, they will be at ''some'' point.

Incest Is Relative is an index, not a trope

** The manga is saturated with romantic relationships, desired or actual, that are either TeacherStudentRomance (where the students in question range from sixteen years old down to ten) or IncestIsRelative (see the women of the Daidouji family), which already unsettles much of the audience, even before taking into account that the setting is a SugarBowl and CLAMP goes out of its way to ensure it all TastesLikeDiabetes, which has prompted even worse reactions in some.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: The manga's art is gorgeous and incredibly detailed, especially for the Clow Cards. The anime isn't slacking either, with an aesthetically pleasing color palette, great lighting, lush backgrounds, and fluid character animation.

* ValuesDissonance: This series has an astonishingly casual view of May/December teacher/student relationships, which would had induced a lot more uproar if it was released in an era past its own. Sakura's mother and father met when he was a high school teacher and she was a highschool student. Sakura's older brother and his (student) teacher had a brief romance, but dropped it for reasons that had nothing to do with age inappropriateness and more with [[spoiler: her leaving ''and'' knowing that they'd fall for others]]. One of Sakura's prepubescent classmates, Rika, has a crush on their teacher... and in the manga, he returns it! And this is shown as romantic and dreamy. Nelvana even changed a line about Rika liking Mr. Terada to her ''fearing'' him, which is rather needless anyway since the anime has him completely oblivious to her PrecociousCrush. Upon the release of the ''Clear Card'' arc in 2016, Rika is written out in the sequel, ostensibly because her voice actress passed away, with CLAMP claiming that no one else could match the original voice performance, but it's more likely to avoid any uncomfortable implications concerning Rika's relationship with her teacher.

Yeah, the bias was miserably strong in this one. And make no mistake, I'm not supportive of teacher-student or incestuous romances, but I'm pretty sure we can mention them neutrally without resorting to Trade Snark or derogative amplifiers

** The manga reveals that relationships between magical characters are driven by magical EmotionControl--characters are attracted or repelled by one another depending on the polarity of their sun- or moon-based magic, such as Touya's and Syaoran's interest in Yukito. The manga treats these magically induced emotions, romantic included, as perfectly legitimate.

Repair Dont Respond, but otherwise good addition (I was unaware of the Animax dub being on Netflix, because I watched the series there with the Spanish dub, albeit the weird European one instead of the more beloved Latin American one)

** Some have assumed that the {{Creator/Animax}} dub was a completely new dub by [[Creator/NipponIchi NISA]]. While NISA put it in their DVD and Blu-Ray releases, they had nothing to do with the dub's actual creation. Though one can still blame them for choosing not to make their own dub, though given dubbing isn't cheap, even then, they're not completely at fault.
*** Similarly, due to the Animax dub being on Netflix, and them being slammed for licensing another [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion divisive anime dub the year prior]], some people think that Netflix helped make said dub. They obviously did not.

Not an example. Fan Preferred Couple requires the preferred couple in mind to be more popular than the Official Couple. Based on some research I've made, the official pairing of Sakura/Syaoran is far more popular and prevalent in fan works than Sakura/Tomoyo.

* FanPreferredCouple: [[KissingCousins Sakura x Tomoyo]] have always had a sizable fanbase even after many [[AbandonShipping jumped ship]] once it was revealed they were actually second cousins. ** Sakura starts off as a small example of an adorable and endearing character, but by the end of the series she is probably a {{Trope Codifier}}. Hell, Sakura even won the first ever Saimoe Tournament back in 2002. (The TV show certainly marks the point at which the anime ''production companies'' noticed the [[PeripheryDemographic Peripheral Demographic]] that sprang up around characters like her, and their [[CashCowFranchise buying power]].) This is toned down slightly in the Nelvana dub, where she is given a more 'tomboyish' attitude and some of her 'cuter' or more vulnerable aspects are edited out.

A BLAM is a bizarre, surreal scene that appears out of nowhere and has no impact on the plot. The fortune-telling scene both makes sense in the context of the episode and has plot significance.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: During the segments where Sakura tries to identify the Clow card of the week and their current movement, Kero and Sakura used the cards for fortune telling and determined that 'The Mirror' card is targeting Touya.
