Sorry but Unfortunate Implications require a link to something and is now considered Flame Bait.

* UnfortunateImplications:
** Both the fic and the audio drama have a deep contempt for a person's voice in a relationship, or even whether or not they ''want'' the relationship. Rarity is repeatedly vilified for daring to reject Spike's feelings. In one case Spike was trying to surprise Rarity, but she just happened to be going on a date with Fancy Pants the same day. She's treated as a shrew over something she didn't even know about. As a result, her marital problems with Fancy Pants comes across as a punishment. Fluttershy is treated as the one in the wrong when she rightfully calls out Discord for brainwashing her into loving him and even says ''she'' was the monster, ignoring that ''he brainwashed her''. So the message is "Doesn't matter how you feel, you ''owe'' someone the time of day, even if you're not interested."
** The Applejack/Spike relationship. In the show proper Spike was always referred to as a ''baby'' dragon and was often treated as the little brother of the Mane Six. And while ages are never revealed, the Mane Six are generally treated as adults. So the relationship comes across as an adult pining after a minor. The story even references TheJailBaitWait with Zecora suggesting Applejack wait until Spike's a little older and later mentioning that they're waiting for Spike to get older still before they can get married.
** Fluttery and Discord. A lot of Discord's possessive behavior towards Fluttershy is supposed to be seen as romantic, but ends up making him come across as ''super'' creepy with lines about how Fluttershy's even more beautiful when unconscious, how Fluttershy has to repeatedly tell him to stop touching her and he never really does listen, control who she can and can't see, and of course keeps her prisoner. Even in the sequel when he's supposed to be reformed or "tamed" he's still possessive, just now towards Screwball. There are also some who are [[{{Squick}} Squicked out]] by their age difference but it's generally eclipsed by the Applejack/Spike relationship.

* DearNegativeReader: As more reviews started to highlight the problematic aspects of ''Bride of Discord,'' such as the relationship between Applejack and Spike and Discord possessive nature towards Fluttershy, DF started to get more backlash thrown her way. When the BOD short "A Different Kind of Family" was released and still showed Applejack and Spike as a couple, DF posted a message on her Community tab addressing the problematic aspects of her stories and how she's evolved as a writer since then, but can't do anything to change the universe she's already established now:
--> "There's something people need to understand about "Bride of Discord." At the time I first wrote it, I was 18, living in a country where marriage laws were different than in America, and was a closeted asexual with very little context of how relationships worked, except for what I observed in media and the people around me. There were things about the world and myself I didn't yet understand. So if anything is found problematic in the way I presented my ships, know that it came from an imagination that was innocent, naive, and not fully matured. Since then, I've strived to improve my writing and the way I write romantic relationships, but it's far too late to change the canon of "Bride of Discord," hence why the ships in the recent short remained constant, despite the understandable issues they arise.
--> The point is I am an imperfect person and writer. I was learning then, and am still learning now. I acknowledge that fact.
--> If you still find what I write to be problematic, you don't have to read/watch my stories. I beat myself up already for my mistakes. I don't need others to do it for me."

Time period Values Dissonance examples must be for works at least 20 years old. No exceptions.

* ValuesDissonance: The original ''Bride of Discord'' has become a bit [[SocietyMarchesOn dated in the years]] since both the fanfic and audio drama were completed. Particularly the Applejack/Spike relationship and Discord's behavior towards Fluttershy. When ''[=BoD=]'' was first written Spike's entire social circle was more or less the Mane Six, so it wasn't that uncommon for shippers to put him with one of them, mostly Rarity. However, in more modern reviews point out that Spike is ''still'' a child, and Applejack is essentially doing TheJailbaitWait. Meanwhile, Discord's behavior was fairly common in a lot of romance properties at the time, but in a modern lens makes him come across as a creepy, possessive, stalker. While both the fanfiction and audio drama did address this many felt that it wasn't enough. Especially since Discord hypnotized Fluttershy into loving him and Fluttershy say's ''she'' was the monster for calling him out on it. The result is that some people flat out hate it for these issues, and others like it, while acknowledging that it was written at a different time and it shows.

* MyRealDaddy: Not the story itself, but the character of Cinnamon Roll, though technically created by DF, didn't start to get much attention until Ice Gaze, her voice actor, made "Cinnamon Roll in the Bathroom," taking a character who had very little focus and not much that was notable aside from being the younger sister of one of Screwball's close friends, and fleshing her out in the span of around five minutes. If not for that video, DF might have never given the character more focus in ''CMC: The Next Generation''.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Cinnamon Roll, the adopted daughter of Applejack and Spike, is gaining quite a following for a character who isn't that integral to the story and has only a few lines of dialogue. It probably began when Ice Gaze, her VA for ''Daughter of Discord'', posted a song parody that showed Cinnamon Roll in the bathroom at the Grand Galloping Gala singing about how she feels abandoned by her brother and how she finds it hard to fit in when everyone else in her brother's circle is older than her. DF praised her video for adding so much more to Cinnamon Roll's character than she could've thought of. This probably contributed to her getting more development in "CMC: The Next Generation." What's more, "Cinnamon Roll In the Bathrooom" would eventually become AscendedFanon when DF decided to adapt it into an animatic to be shown at [=BronyCon=] 2018.
