** Iron Tager started off a general trend of [=ArcSys=] games having very unbalanced grapplers (and not in a good way). He's huge, slow, has bad normals, can't combo to save his life, needs his magnetism to get any work done while also struggling to apply it to the opponent, and his theoretically good throws lead to the opponent being on the far side of the screen, which is the opposite of what a CloseRangeCombatant wants. [[https://www.dustloop.com/w/BBCT/Iron_Tager The Dustloop wiki's article on Tager]] lists his sole positive as the fact that [[DamnedByFaintPraise he can, theoretically, still win games.]]

** Hakumen is quite strong in theory. He has a number of strong normals and specials that deal a lot of damage and have quite a bit of utility on top of that. However, all of it comes with catches -- he has a grand total of ONE gatling route, which limits his combo routes. He does have the unique ability to cancel specials into other specials, but the unique way his Heat gauge works means that all of them cost meter that he struggles to get. Not helping matters is his generally poor mobility, since his dashes are incredibly slow, and he has the proud honor of being the only character whose backdash completely lacks invincibility frames. He can make people explode if he does have meter, but not only is that a particularly massive "if", there are plenty of other characters who can do that with significantly less effort involved.

%%* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Most character joke endings.

%%* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: Enjoy your Ice Car Jins.
%%** Bang.

* FanNickname:
** For Ragna:
*** Due to Rachel's gag ending some people are now calling him Ragna the Pimpedge, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYHRqGA71YQ take a look]]
*** Rawrgna, spawned due to Taokaka antics and the above fact that he's a sexy beast in the eyes of many.
*** Due to his S-tier status in ''CS'', he's gained a lot of detractor nicknames, such as Scrubna and Skillna. There's also another obvious one that uses an all-too familiar gay slur that shall not be mentioned.
** Thanks to Taokaka's [[TheDitz ditziness]], many people have started calling Litchi "Boobie Lady".
** Bang's super Furinkazan is often called "Bang Install", named after [[VideoGame/GuiltyGear Sol's "Dragon Install"]], because it makes him glow and boosts his stats considerably. It's even a similar input sequence... until Continuum Shift.
** Ice Car, [[VideoGame/GuiltyGear Ride The Icening]] for Jin's Musou Senshouzan special.
** HAW-KOO-MAYUN for Hakumen, due to the hilariously awful English vocal version of his theme song on the ''VideoGame/BlazBlue in LA'' CD.
** [=BlazGreen=]: Derogatory name for the series itself. An obvious play on drug culture while also applying to how the series seems like [[WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs it was made on drugs]].
** The T.O.P. Hat - Carl Clover's hat, coined from one of ''[[VideoGame/FatalFury Garou: Mark of the Wolves]]''[='=] system mechanics.
** Evil [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Simon]]: Jin Kisaragi, named for the titular role of his voice actor Creator/TetsuyaKakihara
*** The Ice Car: Jin's Musou Senshouzan[=/=]QCB+C special attack.
** Robo-Dizzy: Nu -13-
** [[spoiler: Future-Jin]]: Hakumen.
** Boobie Lady: Resident AnimeChineseGirl Litchi Faye Ling. Due to her {{Stripperiffic}} clothes that reveal a good portion of her big boobs, combined with how [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Taokaka]], [[TheDitz the resident ditz]] called her.
*** Another good one is "No-Titty Lady" [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/519814/-_-_-animal_ears-bandaid-beret-blazblue-blonde_hai for Noel.]]
** Shitty Kitty: Taokaka.
** C-Men: Hakumen.
** Nu-Gundam: v -13-'s 4th color in her DLC pack is a Franchise/{{Gundam}}.
** Gay Man: Bang wearing his pink costume. His butt whistles when he flies!
** Clap Loop/The Clapper: Again, Carl. This involves positioning Nirvana right behind the opponent and repeatedly keeping the opponent juggled in the air while throwing them. Only certain characters can escape this loop, and only under certain circumstances.
** [[Music/MichaelJackson Smooth Criminal]]: Hazama
*** Also, {{Troll}}zama.
** {{Moe}}l: Noel Vermillion
** [=NoBoobs=] and [=NoPersonality=], also for Noel.
** Lamb-Chan: Lambda-11, Nu-13's much-nerfed [[SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute replacement]] in ''Continuum Shift''.
*** Lambchop over in America.
** Hakumen [[Anime/CodeGeass vi Britannia]], for his new voice clips in ''Continuum Shift'' which sound like Lelouch.
*** There's also Jin vi Kisaragi.
** Hype Dog: The EnsembleDarkhorse big fluffy dog that appears in one of the backgrounds in ''Continuum Shift''. Shown [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUK8GOD8sx4 here.]]
** Asstral Finish: Mu's Astral Heat, both for [[OffModel poor animation quality]] and gratuitous ass shot.
** Assdrill Finish/Asstroll Finish: Relius' Astral Heat, where it's heavily implied he rapes the opponent. Since the first footage of it was done on Ragna, the first one seems to be the more popular.
*** Entering the realm of meta, Asstroll is also a nickname of a deliberate act to invoke an Astral Finish on your opponent to rub the salt on the loser (though mostly for sports rather than utter insulting), such as delaying a fight and not using your Barrier Burst so your meter becomes 100, and sparing your enemy so the set up attack to ensure Astral would end up not killing the opponent by accident. However, if done poorly and the opponent is smart, this would end up as a double-edged sword as it can cost a match that could've been won.
** Assrail: Azrael due to the fact his appearance and behavior resembles those of certain Japanese gay stereotypes.
** Mikadoperator: The Imperator [[spoiler:(Saya)]]. In Japan, [[spoiler:she]]'s referred as "Mikado." Therefore, it's a portmanteau nickname.
** [[Manga/KOn Azu-nyan for Azrael.]]
** [[GratuitousEnglish Hottopantsu]] for Bullet.
** Chronoel: Noel's new design in ''Chronophantasma'' (mostly Japan-specific)
** Kokopuffs: Kokonoe.
** [[Franchise/MortalKombat Babality]]: Amane's Astral Heat works similarly to the original Babality.
** Team Douchebag: The duet of Yuuki Terumi and Relius Clover, two over-the-top Complete Monsters, in order to make clear who's the blackest of black villains in this GrayingMorality setting.
** Franchise/{{Gundam}} Tsubaki for [[SuperMode Izayoi]].
** When Calamity Trigger was first announced, Noel was referred to by different variations of "[[DistaffCounterpart Girl]] [[VideoGame/GuiltyGear Bridget]]."
** Due to how they're performed and how they work in basic, Kagura's two special moves are occasionally referred respectively as [[Franchise/StreetFighter Sonic Boom and Flash Kick]].
** [[spoiler: [[WesternAnimation/AquaTeenHungerForce The Cybernetic Ghost of Jin's Future from The Past]]]] for Hakumen, because that's what he basically is.
** Beast Ragna to the transformed state of Ragna as seen in the Ragna's Bad Ending of ''Continuum Shift'' [[spoiler:and the ending of ''Chronophantasma''.]]
** [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Saber]] for Es.
** Terumen: What Terumi transforms into during his Astral Heat, an apparition vaguely similar to Hakumen but black with green TronLines, [[spoiler: AKA Susano'o]].

** [[spoiler:Remember Tao's alternate ending from Calamity Trigger done in a cheesy trailer style for a non-existant "upcoming movie" that portrayed Litchi being an antagonist? Yeah...]]

* LowTierLetdown: Some fans hate Carl because he's very weak. These people tend to not use his drive ability properly, which requires Carl and Ada to attack in tandem. This is very visible with his Astral Finish, as the enemy can easily avoid it unless Carl does some serious work. On the other side of the spectrum, some hate him because of the Clap Loop. Never mind the fact that it's extremely difficult to get the timing and inputs right, or even to set up, since most people with half a brain will want to stay the hell away from Nirvana.

to:

** Devoured By Darkness becomes Arakune's Zero Vector spawns a gas cloud that either follows the opponent, tracks them from above, or tracks Arakune himself. Regardless of which type is spawned, it will curse the opponent if they touch it, allowing Arakune to run his gameplan. While it doesn't deal damage directly, the cloud still has a hitbox and deals hitstun, potentially allowing Arakune to score a combo as well.
** Carl's up + D normal has Nirvana clap its hands above it, releasing a shockwave. The move is air-unblockable, which isn't unheard of, but unlike other normals with
