* BrokenBase: The game using UsefulNotes/PoweredByTheApocalypse is a bit contentious. While role players love it and how it sets up fun situations and scenarios in the world of the show, others would have preferred a system with more defined combat rules so they could see how they could get creative with their Bending element.

* EnsembleDarkHorse: Xi the Adamant became one of the popular pre-generated characters as she and a few of the pre-generated characters from both the Pirates of Crimson Sails and the Burning Fuse were present in both the announcement of the game and the cover of Beginner Set.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: One Threat/Challenge posted for the Water Tribes in the Korra Era is queer people defying traditions to be in open same-sex relationships, with hostile traditionalists and a supportive head of state. You'd think that Tonraq - Korra's father and the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe - would be a shoe-in for the latter role, given his canon characterization and his character arc in Turf Wars revolving around him learning to accept his daughter's desire to be open about her bisexuality. Instead, it's Northern Chiefs Desna and Eska who have this role, despite their previous characterizations giving next-to-no indication that they'd seriously care about this particular issue. What makes it more grating is that Desna and Eska already have a Threat/Challenge revolving around them, namely their youth and relative inexperience as rulers.
