** Lanz could count as well, since his reason to being a thief of Cento Occhi was losing his child at birth. And according to Project Legacy, Gaspar de la Croix seems to be one to, albeit the reason for such is unrevealed, but also seems related to the death of a loved one. By the time he faces Ezio, he's become a wild shooter, firing at anyone who passed by his aim.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The cutscene that plays after you finally kill [[spoiler: Cesare Borgia]]. It's just him repeating his last words in a weird orange haze. Um... what was the point of that?
** Orange is associated with painful, repressed memories, like Cristina's missions. Project Legacy hints that [[spoiler:Cesare is connected to the Shroud as well...]]
** It is also the color associated with using the Apple of Eden for knowledge-gathering. Implications are that [[spoiler: the Apple showed Ezio that he would kill Cesare that way.]]
*** Which, of course, leads you to the conclusion that the reason Desmond needed to relive all of Ezio's Roma memories was because [[spoiler:Ezio remembers assassinating Cesare ''twice.'']]

* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: When Ezio encounters Lanz the Foodpad's despairing wife, she explains that she is about to kill herself in an effort to get through to her husband, who is both a Templar agent and an apparent murderer working for the Cento Occhi after their child died. Ezio, not fully aware of how closely Lanz's background cleaves to his own, assumes he is just another killer like the rest of the Templar agents he is hunting down and kills Lanz rather than left his wife sacrifice herself "for his crimes." [[PoorCommunicationKills Poor communication really does kill.]]
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
That doesn\'t make this a Family Unfriendly Aesop, especially as written (the latter part is largely natter). The fact that he lost his children in no way absolves him from the fact that he is still killing for hire as part of a gang that is actively supporting the Borgia. It is quite clear during the intro cutscene to that mission that Ezio considers Lanz a murderer and will make him pay for his crimes.

* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: Ezio finds a woman on a roof in despair, about to throw herself off because her husband, Lanz, won't leave his gang behind and come back to her. Ezio assures her not to kill herself and that he will "take care of him" for her. Cue Ezio finding Lanz and ''assassinating'' him. And he doesn't even go back to tell the wife what he's done.
*** Which shows a big FridgeLogic on Ezio's decisions and mentality. So, it's okay to let [[CompleteMonster Rodrigo Borgia]] live because he was tired of revenge, in spite of the fact Rodrigo killed his father and brothers, and kill some [[JerkassWoobie poor guy who turned up to crime because he was grieving over his baby son's death]], in spite of the fact Ezio became an Assassin [[NotSoDifferent BECAUSE of his family's death]]?! So, [[FridgeLogic to solve the situation]], either the wife jumped out of a building and lets the poor guy without any beloved ones, or Ezio kills the poor guy to stop the woman from killing herself?! Geez, PoorCommunicationKills indeed...
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
Actually, Lanz\'s wife specifically told Ezio that Lanz became what he is after they lost the baby. It doesn\'t take a genius to understand the guy is at best a Jerkass Woobie, but Ezio seems to ignore all that. I mean, the man deserved a beating, sure, but killing him just because both him and his wife are grieving the wrong way? Once again, Poor Communication Kills indeed.

** The Poison Dart Launcher makes poison so much more useful. You can now poison enemies from afar, with almost no chance of a hostile spotting Ezio, unlike the poison blade where you had to get into melee range. Furthermore, any hostiles around will be distracted as they watch the victim's throes, allowing you to slip by. Contrast with the Hidden Gun, which almost certainly will give Ezio away, and the crossbow which is also likely to be detected. Also, it's always a OneHitKill, even on Brutes/Almogavars and {{Praetorian Guard}}s/Janissaries.

And Ezio knows precisely none of this whatsoever. Ezio has been informed that there are A) Templar agents sowing terror and fear in the populace, and B) that Lanz has been killing people by throwing them off rooftops. He has no further knowledge of Lanz\'s background or history with the Borgia. As far as Ezio is aware, Lanz is a hired killer. The only possible aesop that might be gained from this is that Poor Communication Kills.

There\'s nowhere saying Lanz is psychotic, only that he became a gang leader because of his family\'s death. He\'s serving the Borgia because they would otherwise kill them for stealing from them. Killing herself wouldn\'t solve anything, and Ezio\'s solution is based on \"Solve everything with Hidden Blade\" mentality that Altair had in the first game. The other Templar Agents were true Jerks and Complete Monsters, but Lanz was given a sympathetic background that isn\'t that different from Ezio, who also lost his family.
