A character's complete absence doesn't count as They Wasted A Perfectly Good Character.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Seeing as how there are only a fraction of villagers available compared to the main games, these reactions were inevitable. Particularly, there has been some minor outcry over the absences of long-time EnsembleDarkhorse Ensemble Darkhorses such as CuteKitten Bob, NightmareFace Coco, and any of the octopus characters, among others. While updates occasionally introduce more animals to befriend, the continued absence of the rest of them are felt, especially since game mechanics as they are now would make it difficult to unlock and befriend hundreds of animals (considering all newely-introduced villagers now must be unlocked through a combination of Gulliver and Blathers' respective services).

** During Gyrodite events, Shovelstrike Quarry will most commonly offer Gyrodites as a reward, and, on most days, will make Gyrodites the only reward available for that day for each 12-hour period. However, with no warning, the game can replace the Gyrodites with a different random crafting material in the afternoon, and if you're unable to gather up enough invites in the morning to enter before the rewards shift (and don't use Leaf Tickets to enter freely), the invites are effectively wasted and you have to wait till the next day to attempt to gather more.

Unfortunately, the inverse scenario (a non-Gyrodite crafting material in the morning and Gyrodites in the afternoon) is much rarer.

ATS is now Trivia and has to be from Word Of God or Word Of Saint Paul

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** After the negative reception of Rover's Garden Safari regarding the bad RNG, the developers decided to raise the spawn/catch rates (depending on the creature type) for Lottie's Gothic Rose Festival, a later event of a similar type. For comparison, this is the data from the former, while this is for the latter. Not to mention, they've made all seasonal flowers for the Rose Festival grow in three hours, so players that don't have time to play every cycle won't need to worry about wilting, and reduced the number of catches required for rewards, reducing the difficulty (and frustration) compared to the first flower event. All garden events since then have kept the fairly high encounter rate for creatures, with some having them boosted further as noted by an "Appearance rates boosted" tag.
** For those who complained that Lottie's event made the garden event too easy, the developers re-raised the catches required to get the rewards. For those who get overwhelmed by the raised number of creatures required to get items, the flower trade offers more items to claim by simply exchanging the seasonal flowers, allowing quick OneHundredPercentCompletion of the event catalog-wise.
** Fishing Tourney #5 caught some flak for making the final original gift randomized among duplicates, causing players to force themselves to spend Leaf Tickets to either rent the Golden Rod or use tourney nets to get it. For Tourney #6, the duplicates are still present-- but they're only given out after all original items have been claimed, allowing players to either finish with all the items or continue if they wanted more.
** After complaints about stamp cards (and the copious amounts of Leaf Tickets needed to fill them out) being the only way to get reissued items, a Spring 2019 update introduced Reissue Orbs, which can be used as material to craft them. The only downside is the large Bell and Essence sums to make them, but this is mitigated by the frequent Bells and Buncha Bells maps given out by villagers.
** The rework to Gulliver's ship on September 2019 was met with much criticism, as it turned what was originally a sink for excess furniture and clothing into another grind that required specific items. Just two months later, the system was modified that any item can be used in a shipment, bringing back its original purpose.

Tastes Like Diabetes is no longer a trope. Moving examples to other tropes when applicable.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: Despite not being any different from other Animal Crossing games aesthetic-wise, some players still complain about having too much "cutesy" content (emphasis on "cute"-based or "hip"-based content, especially events) in this game. The "hip" theme, represented by the color orange and a mushroom, gets this the most due to its overly whimsical, sugary (yet trippy) J-Pop-esque theme.

Even worse, you could end up with a room that requires an item that in turn needs a high enough friendship level with a villager. If not already unlocked by the time the event room comes around, and if you cannot find a suitable replacement that generates a "Good Eye!" reaction, it'll be impossible to get the full three medals from that room without shelling out Leaf Tickets before the event ends and the room closes.

** For the duration of all three major events in a month, the Happy Homeroom Academy will open up an event room with three difficulty tiers that must be completed from easiest to hardest. In the Garden and Fishing Tourney rooms, they all can be completed fully by acquiring every event item/furniture at least once. Moreso, the items needed for all the HHA rooms of an event can be earned for free with very minimal, if any, Leaf Tickets, provided the player has friends to assist during the Garden Event and fishes often during the Fishing Tourney. This is not the case for Gyrodite event rooms, in which the third and final room, ontop of needing everything available with the respective Gyrodite will require purchasing one, or sometimes even more than one of, the premium Leaf Ticket items to get the highest score. The premium items are not cheap either, running at least above 100 Leaf Tickets. You can still pass this room with a three-star rating, however, if you happen to own an item that triggers "Good Eye!".
