* AlternateAesopInterpretation: [[spoiler: It is evident that Itsuki losing all the taste he had for the Imouto genre after discovering that he had a sister, is intended to be a criticism of this genre in general and that the only people who enjoy it are those who do not have real sisters or step-sisters, Even so, it is noteworthy that although Itsuki was a fan of Imouto, at no time did he try to take advantage of his real stepsister or anything similar, which could create a more idealistic Aesop in which just because someone has fetishes that can be considered Taboo They still know how to differentiate between fiction and reality, so they would not be so depraved as to be able to do it in real life.]]

* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: The infamous FakeoutOpening is about two minutes of shameless sister fetish and glaring plot holes. But just when you think this is going to be what the rest of the series is about, Itsuki's editor butts in and calls him out for his poor writing. This opening scene has been labelled by many as the "normie filter" that tests how much the viewer has been accustomed to the little sister genre.

** Itsuki & Haruto refusing to blame Chihiro for Itsuki's HeroicBSOD and everyone trying to help Itsuki get past his writer's block.
** Itsuki burying the hatchet with his father and reconciling with the family, as a byproduct of going home to check on Chihiro after she got rejected by Haruto.

** Itsuki's HeroicBSOD [[spoiler: after Chihiro confesses that she is actually his little sister. He ends up repulsed at what he's written, unable to write at all and when he does finally end up writing, it's so average that it causes him and Nayuta to break up because of a huge argument over it.]]

YMMV entries for A Sister's All You Need.

* {{SugarWiki/Heartwarming Moments}}:
** Itsuki and Chihiro's sibling relationship. At first Itsuki kept his distance, but after he moved out Chihiro made the effort to come over and cook and clean and hang out and now they're pretty close.
** Itsuki and Chihiro going to the aquarium together, which was the first time they'd actually hung out in public together. The siblings genuinely have fun as Chihiro gushes over the various fish and what they're used for and promise to go somewhere together again sometime.
** Miyako's sympathetic tears for Haruto after his anime adaption is so terrible, as well as Itsuki taking him to Akihabara to show him how well Chevalier of the New World is selling. It helps Haruto claw his way out of his HeroicBSOD.
** Haruto's little sister's angry rant about his anime being so terrible and how upset she is for him, despite her {{tsundere}} attitude.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: Chihiro is actually Itsuki's sister, not his brother.
* {{Tearjerker}}:
** Haruto's HeroicBSOD over the extremely low quality of his anime adaption, which he later learns was because the studio was prioritizing their resources towards their major projects. In the anime he rants out loud and in the light novel it's an internal monologue. Also Miyako's reaction as she knows how hard it is to fail at something you worked so hard at.
** When Itsuki drops Chihiro off at the Hashima house on his way home, his father Keisuke is there waiting. Despite Chihiro's attempts to get them to talk to each other and reconcile, all Keisuke does is thank Itsuki for some souvenirs out of obligation. Chihiro is left hurt over the cold relationship between father & son.
* TheWoobie: Many of the main cast have some tragedy to them.
** Itsuki lost his mother at a young age after she was in the hospital for a long time, grew up friendless beyond his first real crush who he pushed away when she rejected him. He also has a strained relationship with his father because of his career choice, lost his author idol who was like a cool older sister and considers himself to be a nobody unworthy of the love that Nayuta has for him.
** Nayuta was severely bullied growing up to the point that she dropped out of high school and became a depressed shut-in until she read Itsuki's work, which saved her.
** Haruto starts out strong, but has a major breakdown once he realizes how horrible the anime adaption of Chevalier of the New World is. Although he gets past the worst of it, it continues to be a sore spot for him and a real blow to his confidence.
