He's signed to the ''[[Wrestling/{{WWENXT}} NXT]]'' brand of the ''Wrestling/{{WWE}}''.

He has performed in several other promotions such as ''Wresting/RingOfHonor'' (1x Television Champion), ''Wrestling/ProWrestlingGuerilla'', ''Beyond Wrestling'', ''Top Rope Promotions'' (1x Heavyweight Champion) and ''Chaotic Wrestling'' (1x Heavyweight Champion, 1x New England Champion).

Prior to the existence of the ''NXT'' brand, he appeared as one of Wrestling/MuhammadHassan's lawyers and confrontd Wrestling/TheUndertaker under his real name. Then he signed to ''Ohio Valley Wrestling'' in 2007, but had to retire due to injuries. After a second stint in the indies (which included the stint in ''ROH'' and a brief appearance at ''Wrestling/{{TNA}}''), he re-signed with WWE, this time for the ''NXT'' brand on September 2, 2015. He began performing in a TagTeam with Wrestling/JohnnyGargano called "#DIY", with whom he won the NXT Tag Team Championship, until their disbandment, which gave birth to one of the most prominent storylines of the entirety of wrestling. [[{{Understatement}} And that's not hyperbole.]] After all was said and done with "Johnny Wrestling", he set his sights on the NXT Championship itself, obtaining it in 2018.

As usual, you can find more info about him on [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommaso_Ciampa that other wiki]], [[https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=3593 Cagematch]] and [[https://www.wrestlingdata.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=6309 WrestlingData]].

!! Sicilian Tropes
* ArchEnemy: His former partner, Johnny Gargano.
* TheBadGuyWins: At ''NXT [=TakeOver=]: Chicago II'' and the title match against Wrestling/AleisterBlack soon after.
* BadassBeard: His beard has steadily grown longer, wilder, and more badass during his time in NXT.
* BaldOfAwesome: Originally debuting with a mohawk, he now shaves his head. Combined with his beard, it creates a suitably threatening and slightly crazy look.
* BaldOfEvil: [[spoiler:His FaceHeelTurn.]]
* BigBad: Has effectively ascended to this for NXT since becoming champion, holding brutal dominance over the roster and continuing to psychologically torment Johnny Gargano so hard he snapped into a delusional FallenHero.
* CompanionCube: The ''NXT Title itself'', [[ICallItVera which he calls "Goldie."]]
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: He ended Wrestling/AleisterBlack's undefeated streak in NXT on July 25th, 2018, along with winning the NXT Championship.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: The trigger for his heel turn. His injuries, and the quickness to which fans online started going through potential dream partners to replace him with, gave him an intense fear of being replaced and considered an afterthought. So after they lost the tag team title ladder match in Chicago and he knew he would have to take time off to recover, he decided to destroy #DIY himself rather than let that happen.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Appeared as one of Wrestling/MuhammadHassan's lawyers and confronted Wrestling/TheUndertaker in an episode of ''Wrestling/WWESmackdown'' in 2005.
* FaceHeelTurn: Turned on Johnny Gargano after their loss to the Authors of Pain at ''Takeover: Chicago''.
* FinishingMove:
** Originally a sliding knee. Usually in tandem with a Superkick from Johnny as a part of #DIY's finisher, "Meeting in the middle."
** Ever since winning the NXT Title, he mainly used a DDT on an opponent draped over the top rope.
** He sometimes uses a lifting sit-down double underhook facebuster, called ''Fairytale Ending''.
* HateSink: Yikes. It may not be an exaggeration to state that, as of 2018, Tommaso Ciampa may be the most over heel in WWE or any of its sub-brands. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being "nuclear heat", Ciampa is somewhere between 10 and... well, [[UsefulNotes/AtomicBombingsOfHiroshimaAndNagasaki Hiroshima]]. Not only does the Full Sail audience almost unanimously boo him with a complete lack of irony (this is almost impossible to get to happen in a heavily smark-leaning crowd), but he's been the target of vociferous chants, the standouts among which aren't the least bit PG. [[spoiler: He's actually drawn "FUCK YOU CIAMPA!" chants that got onto programming ''uncensored'' and at one point had one particularly emotional fan scream in his face, "You're the devil!" Not 'a' devil. [[{{Satan}} THE Devil.]]]]
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler:Subverted. It seemed like Ciampa was having one of these in the final moments of his match with Gargano, but ended up being a ploy to sucker Gargano in. Gargano almost fell for it, but dodged the cheap shot at the last second]].
* IdenticalStranger: He looks like a slimmer version of Wrestling/{{Ryback}} with a thicker beard.
* IfICantHaveYou: Non-romantic version. If he can't be Johnny Gargano's tag team partner, then Johnny Gargano can't have a tag team partner. And if he can't wrestle, then neither can Johnny Gargano.
* ItsPersonal: Ciampa has come to hate Gargano in such a deep, visceral fashion that he absolutely ''revels'' in the hatred that Gargano's fans have for him, to the point that he used it as ''theme music'' for a while. [[spoiler:He even went as far as costing Gargano his NXT career, which finally caused him to stop avoiding Ciampa and start returning that hatred]].
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: He is also known as Psycho Killer, which comes from his theme in the independent circuit and which fans enjoy chanting.
* {{Sadist}}: He's been called this on commentary, and it's not a misnomer; how else would you describe someone that takes as much delight in ruining his former best friend's life as much as Ciampa does?
* TrashTalk: While in #DIY, Ciampa was always the one insulting his and Gargano's opponents, both in the ring and on interviews. After turning on Gargano, this trait only got worse, except now it was all directed at his former best friend.
* {{Troll}}: To Johnny Gargano while Ciampa was injured, to the point that Gargano blocked him on Twitter. Mauro Ranallo straight up even called him this on commentary.
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:Towards the end of his unsanctioned match with Johnny Gargano. Ciampa threw everything he had at Gargano, KitchenSinkIncluded, and Gargano ''still'' wouldn't stay down. After Gargano kicked out of a middle-rope Project Ciampa, Ciampa looked just about ready to cry]].
* VillainsWantMercy: [[spoiler:Deliberately invoked this in the closing moments of his match with Gargano, in hopes that he would lower down his guard long enough for Ciampa to get an opening. Unfortunately for Ciampa, Gargano proved that GoodIsNotDumb and dodged the cheap shot, before finally finishing off Ciampa]].
* WhamLine: "This is my moment." [[note]]A Dark reprise of #DIY's catchphrase "This is our moment." Said right before betraying Johnny.[[/note]]
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Don't let the weathered face and scraggly, somewhat graying beard (that Ciampa doesn't always bother to dye) fool you - he's only 33. For perspective, he's only a couple weeks older than Wrestling/RomanReigns. (Born May 8, 1985; Reigns was born May 25 of the same year.)
