'''CMPunk''' (real name Phil Brooks) is a professional wrestler, having worked with various promotions over the years - most notably, RingOfHonor and [[{{WWE}} World Wrestling Entertainment]]. He made a name for himself in the indies for his "Straight Edge" gimmick: he flaunted his Straight Edge lifestyle (which, according to pretty much everyone who's ever known him, is completely legit) over other wrestlers, and told them that "I'm better than you!" because of it. He used to head a growing faction in WWE called the Straight Edge Society, which promised to "save" people from their self-destructive lifestyles by helping them embrace the principles and beliefs of a Straight Edge lifestyle. However his rise to superstardom will come during the year 2011 first on the June 27th RAW where he dropped his first (and most acclaimed) pipe bomb and during the Money in the Bank PPV on July 17th where he beat JohnCena and after he kissed VinceMcmahon goodbye, he became the first man to leave the company with the title. After his return and subsequent regain of the WWE title, he has held the title for 249 days and counting becoming the man with the longest reign since [[JohnCena John Cena's]] 2006 reign.

** His most notable rival would be Randy Orton, from a storyline perspective. Orton nearly ended Punk's career and forced him to vacate the world title for the evilulz, with the blunt head trauma turning Punk into the DarkMessiah archtype. Randy Orton (even after he turned face) refuses to apologize for what he did to Punk and is only sorry he didn't end Punk's career, which has only further driven Punk insane with rage and anger at Orton. When they were last together in the ring, Orton and Punk were made to tag together and Orton basically left Punk in the ring to be beaten up and pinned by their opponents. Indeed, while Punk can't John Cena, he has at least admitted a level of respect for him. With Orton, there is only a burning hatred that Punk (who has never beaten Orton) has for him

* ArchEnemy: Raven in the early RingOfHonor era. JeffHardy in 2009, and {{Rey Mysterio|Jr}} in 2010. In 2011 we had JohnCena, and probably VinceMcMahon as well, TripleH, John Laurinaitis, AlbertoDelRio and ChrisJericho. DanielBryan has managed to enter the list.

** John Laurinaitis once again: when he tried to claim that he was going to be on the cover of the new WWE game (complete with a mock-up of the cover on a poster), Punk interrupted and revealed the real cover (featuring him), on an enormous graphic that descended from the ceiling. And pointed out that [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean his was bigger than Laurinaitis's.]]

**** Though Wrestler/Kane turned that one around on him; "My pipe bombs are ''actual pipe bombs''."

* NiceJobFixingItHero: After DanielBryan used Wrestling/Kane to attack Punk, Punk returned the favour. All that lead to was Laurinaitis putting Kane in the match between Bryan and Punk for the WWE Championsip at ''No Way Out''.

::Though now that Claudio Castagnoli is signed, with other former CHIKARA workers in the wings, that might come back to bite Punk in the ass.

* BlatantLies: As a WWE heel, one of his major tactics for garnering heat. He claimed to defeat Rey Mysterio without interference, and turned NXT-1's eight-man beatdown on him and Cena into [[SelfServingMemory an attack on only him by thirty six armed opponents]]. Or that he didn't defeat TheBigShow and {{Wrestler/Kane}} because he had a '''one hundred and twenty''' degree fever.

* PetTheDog: Repeatedly taking a beatdown from {{Wrestler/Kane}}, who was targeting him as being guilty for attacking TheUndertaker. Why is this PetTheDog? Punk had an alibi, but didn't want to reveal that Serena had been caught breaking her pledge to the Straight Edge Society (he forgave her the following week, though).

* GroinAttack: ''Extreme Rules 2012.'' ChrisJericho's balls, meet kendo stick. [[ShareTheMalePain Yeowch.]]

** [[WritingAroundTrademarks Airbrushing Around Trademarks]]: The tattoos on his shoulders, a Pepsi logo and a tattoo of the [[GIJoe COBRA logo]], are usually airbrushed/photoshopped out of WWE promotional photos and video games featuring Punk to avoid lawsuits. The very image on this page (taken from a WWE promotional image) is a prime example.

** A MASSIVE one leveled at John Laurinaitis at the 2011 Slammys, which included all the [[NarmCharm cheesiness]] of an 80s style montage.
