[[spoiler: This is tested when Li Na doesn't want to jeopardize all her father's done for her, prompting him to ask Long for that final wish of riches out of grief.]]
* InstantExpert: Din accidentally wishes to be able to fight, and Long makes him a kung fu master. He is very confused by his new reflexes.

* NouveauRiche: Li Na and Mr. Wang.Wang were once working-class people before Mr. Wang worked hard enough to develop a successful conglomerate. The story goes into the impact that entering the wealthy elite has on Li Na. Li Na finds high society stifling and cares less about the fabulous luxuries she's able to afford than how her dad no longer has time for her. Meanwhile, Mr. Wang is desperate to maintain his status for Li Na, eventually leading to drastic measures [[spoiler:when he hires Pockets to take the jade teapot]] to restore his good fortunes and prevent his business from going under..

* ParentsAsPeople: Mr. Wang works hard to give Li Na a better life, starting when they moved out of their apartment. The trouble is, Li Na was content to live there and be Din's friend. And she doesn't get happier with her "better life", as her rich career stifles her from being herself. His working hard to keep providing that "better life" also keeps him from spending quality time with Li Na like they used to. [[spoiler: He even goes as far as to hire the likes of Pockets and his associates so he can use Long's teapot to wish for more money and keep his business afloat. ** Din's mother has shades of this. She's strict, assumes the worst on why Din is being secretive, and overbearing about how he needs to focus on his studies. But for the most part, she's also a caring mother whose strictness is actually a mixture of AngerBornOfWorry and ToughLove.

* PowerIncontinence: At Li Na's birthday party, a disguised Long gets a little tipsy and begins losing control over maintaining his human form.

* RestoredMyFaithInHumanity: At first, Long had a very bleak view of humanity, saying they're all money-hungry things, which is mostly due to [[spoiler: his own experiences as a human, but his time with Din's family and neighbors changed that.]]

He worked his loyal subjects to the bone, he had his daughters married off for political gain, and his sent his only son to conquer more lands (only for him to return a ''dead'' war hero). After everything he did to gain more wealth, Long died alone. In a twist, Mr. Wang almost died a similar death to Long, losing a chance to have a lasting relationship with his own daughter.]]

* TheStarscream: Pockets betrays [[spoiler: Mr. Wang as soon as he claims the teapot, and lets him fall to his death for good measure.]]
* StepfordSmiler: Mr. Wang's assistant insists that Li Na should smile and act more pleasant when she associates with other rich families. Sure enough, Li Na is forced to put on the biggest [[TheUnSmile painted-on smile]] while she claims [[BlatantLies her life is absolutely perfect]]. Her calling her forced smile a "game face" implies this isn't a rare occurance. It's only after her own father fails to come to her birthday that she has to excuse herself from the party and find a quiet, lonely place in her mansion ''just'' to have herself a good cry.

* TakenForGranite: When [[spoiler:Pockets]] gains the MidasTouch he can turn characters into gold statues.

* UsedToBeATomboy: Li Na was a playful and spirited tomboy when she is a kid. She's now working as a beautiful model. [[spoiler:Subverted when more of her true personality comes out on the date: turns out she's just as rambunctious and fight hungry as she was as a kid, she's just been hiding it.]]

* MundaneWish: When Tall Goon and Short Goon get their hands on the teapot, Tall Goon just wishes for enough puppies to open a pet store, while Short goon just wishes for longer legs. By the end, they're perfectly happy with the results.

** To get Din to burn through his wishes quickly, Long tries to convince Din to use a wish to clear traffic.
