* HenpeckedHusband: In one of the Clyde Crashcup shorts, Crashcup "invents" a wife named Pictorial. Their relationship turns out like this, and Clyde eventually reaches the breaking point:

* IfItTastesBadItMustBeGoodForYou: Dave gives Theodore medication after said chipmunk fakes eating himself sick in "Theodore's Dog.[[labelnote:*]]This is in due to Theodore covering for the dog he is feeding that's hiding in the basement who he was feeding and Dave finds that some of the food is missing.[[/labelnote]]"

* {{Irony)): When driving to the "Chesley Estate" Dave inherited, he describes the old place as "Magnificent structure, those stately white pillars, that beautiful landscaping, those formal garden . . ." When we the viewer see the place, it's anything but that. The house is in shambles both inside and out, the garden is a sight for soreeyes . . . well he got the the white pillars right . . .

* SpecialEffectFailure: InUniverse with a film set in "Working on the Railroad".

* UnexpectedInheritance: Supposedly Dave in "Haunted House," since the episode opens up with him saying "I still can't believe it! Me inheriting the Chesley Estate!"

* [[WatchOutForThatTree Watch Out for That Lamppost!]]: One of the cold opens has Dave driving a car and waving at us, only to thud into a lamppost. Then come the Chipmunks dressed as paramedics as Simon and Theodore try to take the damaged car to the ambulance, but Alvin corrects them and they decide to take Dave instead.

Follows the lives and shenanigans of the Chipmunks (in this series, they were further developed as a trio of rambunctious kids) as they often cause mischief towards their high-tempered human father figure, Dave Seville (who was based on the series' creator, Ross Bagdasarian, Sr.). It also uses a ThreeShorts format, adding a recurring segment about the misadventures of inventor Clyde Crashcup (who invents pretty much everything that already exists) and his [[TheSpeechless mute]] HypercompetentSidekick Leonardo.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: The musical segment for "Down In the Valley" has Theodore giving the audience [[FlipTheBird the finger]] during the line ''"hear the wind blowing, hear the wind blow"''

* AllJustADream: "Row, Row, Row Your Boat", in which the stage where Dave gets annoyed by the chipmunks goofing up the song doesn't happen for real. Dave wakes up with his hand in the air at the end.

* FollowTheBouncingBall: The ''Alvin and the Chipmunks Sing Alongs'' videos in 1994, which only consist of sing-along versions of the 1960s Chipmunks musical cartoond. Invoked by the videos' theme song with the lyric "Let's all sing with the Chipmunks, follow the bouncing ball!"

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: There's never been a complete compilation tape/DVD or box set containing all the episodes. There exists only the aforementioned Sing Along tapes (which just have some of the musical segments) and a DVD called "The Very First Alvin Show" (which only contains one of the first episodes, along with a episode from the 1980s reboot and the special ''A Chipmunk Reunion'').

* FollowTheBouncingBall: The ''Alvin and the Chipmunks Sing Alongs'' videos in 1994, which only consist of sing-along versions of the 1960s Chipmunks cartoons. Lampshaded by the videos' theme song with the lyric "Let's all sing with the Chipmunks, follow the bouncing ball!"

* TheUnintelligible: In the Clyde Crashcup shorts, Leonardo would only communicate by whispering into Clyde's ear. He did speak audibly on one occasion, when upset with Clyde, in a sort of whimpering wail, without any real words to it.

* LastNoteNightmare: "Rock-A-Bye Baby" in the Crashcup segments, namely the ones where he invents the bed and the baby. Played at the end of the episode - normally the first time around, then as things go awry for good it repeats - but speeds up and slows down like a warped record.
