** One that's par for the course for the Addamses: everyone does weird things that they find completely normal. What one person finds weird might be completely normal for someone else.
** "Different" families are still families, and you can still get along with them.
** Even well-meaning people can be monsters.
** Misinformation can cause people to turn on each other and unite against a scapegoat.

** During the prologue when Gomez and Morticia are escaping the villagers with Fester, Gomez announces they'll move somewhere so horrible no sane, rational person would ever move there. SmashCut to a sign reading "Welcome to New Jersey".

** According to [[https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/the-addams-family-animated-movie-directors-interview/ this interview]] with the directors, there's nods to ''Film/TheShining'', ''Film/TheEvilDead1981'', ''Film/GetOut'', ''Film/TheAmityvilleHorror1979'', plus a sequence inspired by ''Film/TheBlairWitchProject'' that had to be cut because it was too extreme for the target audience.

While the Addamses try to fit in with the new neighbors, reality TV star and home-repair guru Margeax Needler has plans for the bright and beautiful planned community of Assimilation, NJ... plans that ''don't'' involve the crazy Addams family, their haunted house, and their hordes of equally weird relatives who are coming into town for Pugsley's "Sabre Mazurka" on the same day she's filming the season finale of her show ''Margeaux's Design Intervention''.

''The Addams Family'' is an animated movie based on the [[Franchise/TheAddamsFamily franchise]] created by Creator/CharlesAddams, directed by Creator/ConradVernon and Greg Tiernen of ''WesternAnimation/SausageParty'' fame and animated by Creator/{{Cinesite}}, features vocal talent from the likes of Creator/CharlizeTheron, Creator/OscarIsaac, Creator/NickKroll, Creator/FinnWolfhard, and Creator/ChloeGraceMoretz. The film was released on October 11th, 2019 by [[Creator/MetroGoldwynMayer United Artists Releasing]] in America, and Creator/UniversalPictures internationally.
