Cartman, Kenny, Kyle and Stan sneak into a Sunday morning screening of ''Asses of Fire'', a new film starring their favorite {{Canad|aEh}}ian comedians, Terrance and Philip. The [[VulgarHumor epic number of obscenities]] they take from the film (and quickly spread to the other kids at school) causes all sorts of trouble; before too long, the parents of South Park, led by Kyle's mother Sheila Broflovski, go on the MoralGuardian warpath. Their culture war eventually results in the arrest of Terrance and Phillip, which starts an ''actual'' war between Canada and America. The American government plans to execute Terrance and Philip during a USO show...[[FromBadToWorse which would allow Satan to rise up and cause]] TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. The world's only hope for salvation? You guessed it: Cartman, Kenny, Kyle and Stan.

* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Sheila may say she was only trying to make the world a "better place for children whey they don't learn curse words", but she went unreasonably far lengths to enforce the morality and safety of the town's children by [[spoiler: launching a war against Canadians]], encourage Americans to be racist and burn canadian merchandise and commit genocide on all Canadians out of [[FantasticRacism Fantastic Racism]], she's willing to be racist to another country if she [[NeverMyFault accuses them]] of being a bad influence on children instead of taking responsibility herself.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Sheila may go too unreasonably far lengths to enforce the morality and safety of the town's children by [[spoiler: launching a war against Canadians]], but it was really for a good cause.

* LogoJoke: The Paramount logo[[note]] which gained an updated appearance starting with this movie- the stars gained a thick golden border (and were now visible in the lake below the mountain, while the Paramount text slowly shined; this would precede the 2002 CGI mountain[[/note]] fades into an equivalent as part of the mountain backdrop of South Park. The joke was ruined for the international version though, where the 1998 Warner Bros. shield takes the place of the Paramountain. [[note]]In case you're wondering why Warner Bros. had anything to do with this, it's because at the time Viacom and Time Warner each owned half of Creator/ComedyCentral - it was formed in 1991 by a merger of MTV Networks' HA! TV Comedy Network, and Creator/{{HBO}}'s Comedy Channel; Time Warner sold their stake in 2003. This split was also reflected by earlier ''South Park'' VHS tapes and [=DVDs=]- the first video tapes went under Time Warner's Rhino Home Video label (a part of Creator/RhinoRecords and spunoff with the rest of the Creator/WarnerMusicGroup in 2004), while the [=DVDs=] were initially released by Warner Home Video- some re-issues still credit WHV and Paramount both. In a sense of irony, Warner Home Video struck a deal with Paramount to distribute Paramount movies on Blu-ray and DVD, giving them the domestic home video rights in the mid-2010s. However, WB continues to distribute this movie internationally.[[/note]]

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: When they're first hauled before Mr. Mackey, he demands to know where they heard such profanity. The boys try to scapegoat Garrison, saying they'd heard such language from him a few times. Mackey doesn't buy their explanation for a second. As shown in the series, Garrison is far from a model teacher, sure. But Mackey ''also'' knows his colleague well enough to seriously doubt that Garrison would ever say "Eat penguin shit, you ass spelunker" to his own students.

* AdultsAreUseless: One of the movie's major themes is the adults are useless and also deals with bad parenting. The opening song even includes the line "Off to the movies we shall go/where we learn everything that we know/'cause the movies teach us what our parents don't have time to say". When the boys got in trouble the school, the parents decided to declare war on Canda instead of dealing with the boys' behavior and teaching them that swearing is wrong.

* AnimatedWorldHypotheses: An ambiguous case. ''Terrance and Phillip'' movie is referred to as a cartoon, but the real Terrance and Phillip look exactly like the supposedly animated characters they're playing.

* UnfotunateSearchResults: Stan has been told that finding the clitoris is the key to making a girl like him, but no other information about what the clitoris is. At one point, he tries turning to the Internet with Kyle and Cartman. Of course, they get lots of pornographic hits; the one they click on is a German fetish video featuring Cartman's mom.
