Eventually, they meet together when grown up, and guided by the Oracle of Delphius, they set out to thwart Robotnik, find their mother, and form the Council of Four to end his reign. Robotnik also banned all music, and our three protagonists were {{Musical Assassin}}s with ThePowerOfRock. Each episode's climax would generally be a song performed by the triplets, often with AnAesop based on the events of the episode. This series is also the first western ''Sonic'' cartoon to introduce Knuckles- though, suprisingly, Tails is a no show.

* EightiesHair: Sonia and Manic have wild hairstyles reminiscent of the 1980s.

* MirrorUniverse: In "Six is a Crowd", the hedgehogs entered one where they were the tyrants and Robotnik was a Freedom Fighter. It ended with them [[HeelFaceTurn redeeming]] their evil counterparts. Strangely, there was no mirror Aleena.

* NoEnding: The show was cancelled before an ending could be written; the final episode doesn't resolve anything. * MaliciousMisnaming: Like ''WesternAnimation/SonicTheHedgehogSatAM'' and ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog'' before it, the show has Sonic constantly refer to Robotnik as "Robuttnik", and occasionally "Buttnik". The triplets occasionally get in on it as well.

* MamaBear: Queen Aleena shot down some Swatbots to save Manic from being roboticized.

* ArtEvolution: Sonic looks closer to his game counterpart than the previous two DiC cartoons (he has extra quills on his back and five fingers), and the animation is done with digital ink and paint rather than cels. [[OffModel That doesn't make the animation any better, though]].
