''Sidekick'' is a Canadian animated television series created by Todd Kauffman (director of the first two seasons of ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'') and Joey So. The show originated as five shorts created for a short-lived 2004 {{animated anthology}} series called ''WesternAnimation/{{Funpak}}'', before being spun-off into a standalone series years after. It ''Sidekick'' tells the story of Eric Needles, a 12-year-old orphan boy who was the sidekick of missing Maxum Man, the world's greatest superhero Maxum Man and his adventures who has mysteriously vanished. Eric lives in Splitsboro, a town literally divided between superheroes and supervillains, attending the Academy for Aspiring Sidekicks, where kids like him train to become the sidekicks or henchmen of the heroes and villains.
