Kevin's [[HotBlooded hot-headed]] father and [[DrillSergeantNasty chief of police]], Randall was [[FantasyForbiddingFather against his son becoming a cop]], after a [[DarkAndTroubledPast time]], when a [[YouthIsWastedOnTheDumb 5-year-old]] Kevin accidentally [[ThatsGottaHurt shot him in the testicles]], causing a chain reaction of events, where Randall would [[CripplingCastration lose testosterone]], fell emasculated, and [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday try to feel like a man]] again by being a [[HeManWomanHater hateful, misogynistic dick]] to his wife, Karen, who later divorced him and went on to [[YouGoGirl become the mayor]]. As mayor, Karen gave Kevin a job [[{{Irony}} at Paradise P.D.]] out of [[GoodParents love for her son]] and [[BestServedCold spite for her ex]], (mostly the latter) and thus begins the premise of ''Paradise P.D.''

The rest of the cops at Paradise P.D., which make up the main cast are [[BigFun morbidly obese]] [[{{Manchild}} man-child]], Dusty Marlow, [[RabidCop quick-to-violence queen of police brutality]], Gina Jabowski, [[DepravedBisexual bisexual]] [[DirtyOldMan 175-year-old]] [[RacistGrandma racist]], Stanley Hopson, [[GranolaGirl Wiccan]] [[MagicalFlutist piccolo-playing]] [[TokenMinority black guy]], Gerald Fitzgerald, and [[FunctionalAddict drug-addicted]] [[TheCobblersChildrenHaveNoShoes drug]] [[TeamPet dog]], Bullet.

From the moment it was first advertised, people expected ''Paradise P.D.'' to be a [[SelfPlagiarism carbon copy]] of Black and O'Guin's first show, ''WesternAnimation/{{Brickleberry}}''. However, when the show aired, they got ... exactly that but this time, the show was more serialized, telling an [[StoryArc overarching story]], [[LayoutOfASeason which spanned the entire season]]. It also managed to be better received. Indeed, to many people's surprise, it did exceptionally well in ratings and quickly became Netflix's fifth smash-hit adult animated series, following ''WesternAnimation/BoJackHorseman'', ''WesternAnimation/FIsForFamily'', ''WesternAnimation/BigMouth'', and ''WesternAnimation/{{Disenchantment}}'' and got picked up for another season, which, although intended to air in 2019, due to production mishaps, went through a bit of a [[ReleaseDateChange delay]], before it finally aired in March of 2020, (mere days before the effects of [[UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic the coronavirus]] really took its course worldwide). The second season did so well, that three days after its release, it warranted a third season, which aired on March 12th, 2021. On June 30th, 2022, the show was renewed for a fourth and final season, which aired on December 16th, 2022.

Netflix canceled the show after Season 4 but didn't tell Roger and Waco about this until after the finished production of the season, making the show end on a cliffhanger. According to a [[AuthorsSavingThrow last-minute addition]] to the finale episode's [[TheStinger credits]] as well as a [[WordOfGod Tweet from Waco O'Guin]], they still plan on doing a proper finale for the series, using their [[QuietlyPerformingSisterShow other show]], ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Farzar}} Farzar]]'', as a surrogate. During Season 2 of Farzar, which is set to air sometime in 2023, Paradise PD will appear one last time for a [[{{Crossover}} crossover]] episode that will officially end the series.

* NowWhichOneWasThatVoice: The ending credits tell you the voice actors but there's no indication of which voice goes to which character, making it pretty difficult to figure out who is who sometimes.

* ButNotTooBlack: Dr. Funtlichter is apparently a Nigerian native, who had his skin bleached to look like an extremely pale Caucasian, so that he could get accepted into Trump University.

* StrawmanNewsMedia: Both liberal and conservative media turn up in "Black and Blue", mercilessly portraying Creator/FoxNews, Creator/{{MSNBC}}, and Creator/{{CNN}} and their pundits as being ignorant, biased and making [[InsaneTrollLogic rash assumptions]] by taking verbal statements out of context.

* WorldOfJerkass: With the exception of [[DumbIsGood Kevin]], everyone in Paradise seems to be incredibly selfish or mentally unstable, and most of them are also outright cruel and sadistic. Randall himself puts profit over principle for the Paradise PD since he only pursues cases that come with pay.

* HeroicDog: On rare occasions, Bullet actually does something beneficial for the team.

* IWasQuiteALooker: Although Agatha is just an ugly old broad now, a flashback in "Blimp City" shows that in her teen years, she used to be a smoking hot redheaded babe just like Karen.

* AdultsAreUseless: While the titular police force are already corrupt, irresponsible idiots, the other adults don't come off as much better, being equally stupid and amoral. The only sensible adult in the show is Mayor Karen Crawford, a CorruptPolitician who is eager to legalize meth and narcotics as long as it increases her profile.

* CrapsackWorld: The ironically-named Paradise is this, being a town consisting of PoliceBrutality, sex crimes, drug trafficking, destruction of public property, monster invasions, unethical testing, obesity epidemics, etc. The only person with a good moral compass is Kevin Crawford, a LethallyStupid young adult who is also the residential ChewToy.

* CrapsackWorld: The ironically-named town of Paradise, where PoliceBrutality, sex crimes, drug trafficking, vandalism of public property, monster invasions, unethical testing, obesity epidemics, etc. are all too common. Only Kevin Crawford, a LethallyStupid young adult who also serves as the neighborhood ChewToy, has a strong moral sense.

* WorldOfJerkass: There seems to be not a single person in Paradise who isn't astonishingly selfish or screwy in the brain, and most of them are outright malicious and sadistic besides. Randall himself puts profit over principle for the Paradise PD since he only pursues cases that come with pay.

* AdultsAreUseless: While the titular police force are already corrupt, irresponsible idiots, the other adults don't come off as much better, being equally stupid and amoral. Not even Mayor Karen Crawford is exempt from this, being an alcoholic, drug-addicted hedonist who frequently abuses her position in one way or another.

* CrapsackWorld: The ironically-named Paradise is this, being a town consisting of PoliceBrutality, sex crimes, drug trafficking, destruction of public property, monster invasions, unethical experimentations, obesity epidemics, etc. The only person with a good moral compass is Kevin Crawford, a LethallyStupid young adult who is also the residential ChewToy.

** In "Task Force", UsefulNotes/JoeBiden masturbates over the idea of taking [[EvenTheGuysWantHim Dusty's]] virginity.
** Pat Robertson jerks off to pictures of Jesus Christ.
** At least a few times Gina has masturbated to Dusty. [[spoiler:[[ItMakesSenseInContext She also later invokes this via intentionally masturbating to many fat people]], with Dusty being one of them, in "Showdown at the O-bese Corral"]].

** Gina has a bullet lodged in her brain, from when her criminal father used her as a [[BulletproofHumanShield human shield]] and then [[ParentalAbandonment abandoned her]] as a kid. Her brain bullet messes with her brain and gives her unnaturally occuring violent tendencies and a disgusting [[ChubbyChaser fetish for fat people]]. Later on in the show, [[spoiler:her nymphomania caused her to [[ADateWithRosiePalms rub her vagina off]] and get it replaced with a prosthetic robot one.]]

** Gina has to stop going out with [[ADateWithRosiePalms Rosie]] after one too many dates causes medical issues. It's hard to stop when a ban on robes forces every fat person in town to go naked.

* {{Irony}}: In "Big Ball Energy", Kevin was told by the [[Film/MinorityReport precogs]] that by the end of the day, he would [[ADateWithRosiePalms publicly masturbate]] in front of the monkeys at the zoo. Although he could have avoided this by simply not going to the zoo, Kevin wanted to [[YouCantFightFate ensure this wouldn't happen]] and made an anonymous call to the zoo, claiming there was a bomb there and they needed to shut down for the whole day. The zookeeper refused and hung up. Seconds later, Randall comes out and tells Kevin that there was a bomb threat and he needs to go down to the zoo to investigate.

* UncannyFamilyResemblance: All of Dusty's family members look and sound exactly like him, just with different voices.

* AcceptablePoliticalTargets: Both left and right-wing news media, with Creator/{{Fox News|Channel}} host [[TeenyWeenie Tucker Carlson]] copping the most memorable jabs. "Black & Blue" is a shining example of how the show rips into both sides; both spectrums of the StrawmanNewsMedia are shown to be manipulative for their own sake at the price of dividing the populace on their opinion towards the police. Also, they're [[spoiler:completely stumped as to how to demonize Dusty, Fitz, and Gina pretending to be a smorgasbord of [[AcceptableTargets Acceptable]] and (InUniverse) UnacceptableTargets simultaneously[[labelnote:namely]]a black [[UsefulNotes/DonaldTrump Trump]] supporter who's copulating with an obese, [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Rifle_Association NRA]]-supporting, UsefulNotes/{{transgender}} Muslim who's performing an abortion on a pro-LGBT+, pro-life Nazi[[/labelnote]]]].

* AdultsAreUseless: While the titular police force are already corrupt, irresponsible idiots, the other adults don't come off as much better, being equally stupid and amoral.

* JokeOffTheButt: Plenty of butt jokes in the show. Most prominently, Randall's plot in "Good Jeans", where he got some padded pants that showed off his big ass and he paraded himself around town in them.

* KilledOffForReal: Throughout the series, this has happened to several of the recurring characters, although most of the time, it's just [[CListFodder C-list fodder]].
