But the first trailers for the special focused on showing the group going to Equestria and being ponies, and this created the inaccurate interpretation that this would be the focus of the special, causing fans to be disappointed when it turned out they don't go to Equestria until the third act and mostly just hang out at Princess Twilight's castle chatting with her.

* NoTimeToExplain: When Sunset Shimmer pushes Rainbow Dash deeper into the quicksand (actually a portal to Equestria), Twilight is dumbfounded, but Sunset only responds "I'll explain later." With a ManEatingPlant closing on them, held at bay only by Twilight's telekinesis, they ''really'' have no time to waste on exposition.

** Bulk Biceps poses on the front of the ship like Jack from ''Film/{{Titanic|1997}}''. The ship also begins to sink by getting cut on some rocks in a similar manner to show how the ''Titanic'' sank. Also, the romance between Rarity and Ragamuffin mirrors that of Jack and Rose.
