* FeelingTheirAge: Two second season episodes were built around a moral of how it isn't shameful to admit you're getting too old to keep doing something, and how not doing so can be extremely dangerous. The first one had Joe Magician face the fact that he can't keep bouncing back from his injuries the way he did just a few years ago. The second had Malicious Malone deciding to play for the Monsters again, and while he definitely has the moves, he doesn't have the stamina to keep up with the other players anymore.

* NoPartyLikeADonnerParty: One episode had the players stranded in the mountains after a plane crash; as Bones set off to find help, the other players started to turn on the reptilian Razor Kid as, apparently, lizards are high in protein. Thanks to his agent, however, Razor only has to give up his tail (which can grow back). When the incident is brought up in another episode, one of the players claims the tail [[TastesLikeChicken tasted like chicken]].

None of that is really relevant. The trope is about adding a female character to a show to have more female representation, and other morals aside, that's exactly the point of adding Thrasher to the show.

* AffirmativeActionGirl: The second season introduced us to Thrasher Malone, the show's first female mutant. Even moreso with the plot of her introduction episode being about [[StayInTheKitchen the evils of sexism]]. Note that both sides have a point, and that male norms are in general physically stronger than female norms. There may be less gender dimorphic physical strength difference between male and female mutants. Thrasher proves herself before the gender reveal and joins The Monsters out of merit and not for affirmative action.

* AnAesop: The general one for the show was "play fair and have integrity". A lot of second season episodes were built around one, like, don't be sexist, stay away from drugs, etc. There were also some that were unusually sophisticated for a cartoon meant for a younger audience (believe it or not), like know when it's time to stop doing something, your heroes aren't always who they appear to be, sometimes there's a situation with no ideal resolution, or the dangers of gambling or obsessive stalkers.

* BrokenAesop: In one episode, evil mutants try to trick some adolescent fans into jumping into toxic waste to mutate themselves and be more like their idols in the League. The kids hesitate because "norms can't mutate". The very existence of the Mutant League is proof that isn't true. Everyone in it--from the players, refs, coaches, team owners, play-by-play guy and various mutants who had nothing to do with the League--''were'' ordinary humans once upon a time. Trying to mutate yourself wouldn't be an easy or smart thing to do, sure. But obviously it can be done. Almost ends up being an example of DoNotDoThisCoolThing.

Trying to mutate yourself wouldn't be an easy or smart thing to do, sure. But obviously it can be done. Almost ends up being an example of DoNotDoThisCoolThing. There is an explanation in a previous episode that there is very little of the original mutagen in existence, possibly due to deterioration. So basically, the toxic waste generally no longer mutates norms, and if it does, the transformation is temporary at best and it's essentially a roll of the dice.

* FixFic: The episode "Shoeless Laser" is that for the real life Black Sox Scandal. In the real life scandal where the team had signed this deal to throw the game for money, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson had apparently not known what the contracts he signed entailed due to being illiterate. He played the game honestly while the others on his team slacked off. Everyone on his team - Shoeless Joe included - were banned permanently from professional baseball. In the episode "Shoeless Laser," Liquid Laser refuses to sign the contract and is adamant about playing fair. He still gets banned with the rest of his team. However, due to pressure from fans and from Bones Justice himself, Prigg reinstates Laser - and ONLY Laser.
