''Lightyear'' is the upcoming twenty-sixth CGI animated feature by Creator/{{Pixar}} and a spin-off of the ''Franchise/ToyStory'' series, marking the solo feature debut of Angus [=MacLane=] (''WesternAnimation/ToyStoryOfTerror'', ''WesternAnimation/FindingDory'').
The film serves as an OriginsEpisode for longtime ''Toy Story'' Main/{{Deuteragonist}} Buzz Lightyear — or rather, the ''real'' Buzz Lightyear (voiced here by Creator/ChrisEvans) that inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy that we’re all familiar with, showing how the legendary Space Ranger of Star Command came to be.
The film is set to debut exclusively in theaters on June 17, 2022.
No relation to the other Buzz-centric ''Toy Story'' spin-off, ''WesternAnimation/BuzzLightyearOfStarCommand''.
