** Damien Darkblood seems much more capable here than in the comics, where he was largely a joke and got laughed off when he showed up and revealed it was Omni-Man who killed the Guardians of the Globe... months after that had become common knowledge. Here, he seems to be suspicious of Omni-Man from the get-go and is more actively investigating the matter.

''Invincible'' is a 2021 animated series based on [[ComicBook/{{Invincible}} the comic series of the same name]] by Creator/RobertKirkman and Cory Walker. The series is developed for Creator/PrimeVideo, and is a rare instance of utilizing the hour-long animated format.

Set in the world where Omni-Man is the world's greatest superhero, his son Mark Grayson tries to live a life as an OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent before he's drawn into the world of superheroics himself. Taking the alias Invincible, Grayson realizes that he's inherited his father's powers after his seventeenth birthday, and works to master them while balancing his two lives.

However, tragedy soon strikes among the superhero community, and Mark is forced into a dangerous position that he doesn't fully understand. Making new allies, he soon learns that there is much more to the world that he's inherited than meets the eye -- and twists and turns that will make him question the true nature of his heritage.

The series premiered on March 26, 2021 with its first three episodes, with subsequent episodes dropping every Friday, with an AllStarCast of voice actors lending their talents to the series.

!!This series provides examples of:
* AdaptationalBadass: In ''Invincible'' #7, when Omni-Man [[spoiler:lured the Guardians of the Globe into their home base and violently murdered them]], it took Omni-Man only a few seconds [[spoiler:to kill them all]]. In this series, [[spoiler:the Guardians of the Globe actually put up a fight with Omni-Man to the point where they wound him. Though Omni-Man still wins the battle and the Guardians of the Globe are killed, he was so hurt that he faints]].
* AliensAreBastards: [[PlayingWithATrope Played With]]:
** The Flaxans are your typical alien invaders, dropping in the middle of a populated area and killing as many people as possible. Despite differences in the flow of time from their home dimension turning out lethal for them, they're willing to spend several decades developing the means to overcome it and finally conquer Earth, seemingly out of spite from their apparent leader.
** Subverted with Allen the Alien. It seems like he's a periodic threat to Earth but really he's an agent of an intergalactic coalition that's merely testing Earth's mettle to defend itself from actual alien conquerers, and even then he's mixed up Earth with another planet. When Mark takes the time to talk with him, they clear things up and he leaves amicably.
* BaitTheDog: Omni-Man comes off as a well-meaning father to Mark as well as husband to Debbie, [[spoiler:before he ends the first episode bringing together the Guardians of the Globe and violently murdering them]].
* BewareTheSuperman: [[spoiler:The first episode ends with [[SupermanSubstitute Omni-Man]] murdering the Guardians of the Globe, and in the second, he commits genocide against an invading alien race, where he fully demonstrates just what kind of damage he's capable of.]]
* {{Bookends}}: Atomic Eve's personal storyline in episode 3 begins with her walking in on her boyfriend (Rex) with her team-mate Dupli-Kate. It ends with her going to see Mark, whom she's friends with, and stumbling on him making out with Amber. Notably her relationships with them led to the different ways she reacted.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: {{Subverted}} to hell and back. The show does not hesitate to show the damage the human body can suffer and advancements in medicine can only do so much nor does it discriminate between genders.
* BrickJoke: Mark first learns about his powers when he accidentally tosses a bag of trash sky-high. The following episode begins with that trash bag landing in the United Kingdom. For bonus points, the characters in the UK were brought up in a SeinfeldianConversation in the first episode's first scene.
--> I didn't know they had a Burger Mart here.
* CursedWithAwesome: Monster Girl's powers are the result of an unspecified curse that allows her to turn into turn into a large goblin-like creature at will. However, every time she does the curse makes her younger; [[OlderThanTheyLook she looks to be 12 but is apparently 24 years old]].
* DevelopingDoomedCharacters: At the end of the first episode, we see the various members of the Guardians of the Globe during their everyday lives: Red Rush is trying to console his girlfriend on a date because of her issue with the fact that he'll often dash away to stop supervillains in the middle of conversations, War Woman is an HonestCorporateExecutive, Martian Man is friends with a young girl who is clearly very poor and possibly homeless, Darkwing is apprehending criminals, Green Ghost is doing a photoshoot, The Immortal is defeating a supervillain, and Aquarius is bored. All of them are called away from what they are doing to take care of an emergency. [[spoiler:And then they are all brutally killed by Omni-Man.]]
* DontThinkFeel: Mark's father explains that flying is like this, comparing it learning to walk and to balance yourself without even thinking about it. Initially, Mark needs to focus on what he wants to do and where to go but eventually it'll become second-nature to him.
* DramaticIrony: Rex cheats on Eve claiming it was "obvious" that something was going on between her and Mark. Not only did Mark back-off any idea of asking her out when he learned of their relationship, but his storyline for that episode was about balancing dating a civilian (Amber) and being a superhero.
* EvolvingCredits: The title screen in the first episode comes near the end of the episode, and is pristine blue with yellow font. Every episode afterwards adds a little more blood to the title.
* {{Expy}}:

** Black Samson is based on ComicBook/IronMan.
** Shrinking Ray is based on [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doll_Girl Doll Girl]].
* FlyingBrick:
** Omni-Man and Invincible's power sets, although unlike Superman, they lack super-senses.
** The Immortal counts as well.
* GenderFlip: Green Ghost and Shrinking Ray are both women here.
* {{Gorn}}: It's used to shocking effect at the end of the first episode, in which [[spoiler:the Guardians of the Globe are killed in gruesome, disturbing ways]]. The violence in the series amps up from here illustrating the damage super-human abilities can be done to the body.
* HumanMomNonHumanDad: Mark's mother is human, while his father is Viltrumite.
* InterspeciesRomance: Omni-Man and his wife, Debbie.
* ParentalSexualitySquick: One of Mark's first scenes is ScrewThisImOuttaHere because his parents are getting ''too'' affectionate in front him. He even says that one of the things parents should never do is discuss sex in front of their kids, and his mother lightly remarks that he should be happy that his parents love each other so much.
* PersonalityPowers: It really can't be a coincidence that Rex Splode has [[HavingABlast the power to make charge objects with explosive energy]] and seems to [[HairTriggerTemper have some serious anger issues]].
* PunnyName: Three of the Teen Team have these for superhero names; there's Atom Eve (Adam and Eve), Rex Splode (explode), and Dupli-kate (duplicate).
* RaceLift:
** Mark and Debbie Grayson are Korean-American, while in the comics they were white.
** Amber Bennett is black, while in the comics she was a white blonde.
* RuleOfThree: The alien invasion in episode 2 come from a dimension where time is faster than ours and so they begin to age rapidly. The first 2 times they retreat when they start to suffer from the different time-streams with the third time they arrive completely immune and with weaponry too advanced for the Teen Team to handle. [[spoiler: It takes Omni-Man being accidentally transported to that dimension and comitting a literal genocide to end the invasion once and for all.]]
* SpiderManSendUp: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. While Invincible doesn't have Spidey's arachnid powers, his character is very much modeled after Peter Parker.
* SpiritualAntithesis: To ''Series/TheBoys2019'', another adult superhero show on Creator/PrimeVideo. While ''The Boys'' is a dark and incredibly violent {{Deconstruction}} of the superhero genre based on a comic by a writer who despises the genre, ''Invincible'' is going more towards {{Reconstruction}} based on a comic by a writer who adores the genre... and is also incredibly violent.
* SupermanSubstitute: Omni-Man is clearly modeled after the Man of Tomorrow, which by extension makes Invincible one to Superboy.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** When Mark gets his powers, he suffers PowerIncontinence and needs to be trained by his father as well as ''far'' from being an InstantExpert.
** While he did well on his first couple of forays as a superhero, it was against the equivalent of {{Mooks}} and no-name supervillains. When he faces his first alien invasion, Mark reacts the same as anyone whose never seen combat before would: he freezes up, internally panics, and needs to be back-uped by a team of slightly more experienced teen heroes. Even then all he can do is retreat to get a civilian medical support.
** Speaking of said civilian, despite taking her to a top-secret cutting edge hospital she still dies anyway despite their best efforts. It doesn't help that she suffered a great number of injuries and was quite old to begin with.
** While Robot's choices for the new Guardians of the Globe seem quite logical and thought out, there is little to no team-dynamic. His first attempt at a team meeting ends with all them walking out after fighting.
* TitleDrop: PlayedWith in a interesting way; the first time in each episode Mark's superhero name is said, it cuts to the TitleScreen.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: [[spoiler:The Guardians of the Globe are all slain after their first appearance.]]
* WhamEpisode: The first episode plays out like a standard story in which an established superhero helps his son become a superhero himself. Then it ends with the older superhero [[spoiler:violently murdering his allies, the Guardians of the Globe]].
* YourCheatingHeart: Rex Splode cheats on Atomic Eve with their teammate Dupli-Kate whom he tells the former is now dating Invincible, then has the gall to claim it was obvious something was going on.
