HotWheelsBattleForce5 is an animated series from Nerd Corps, the makers of ''DragonBooster'', ''WesternAnimation/StormHawks'' and ''LeagueOfSuperEvil,'' that aired on Creator/CartoonNetwork from 2009 to 2011. It is MerchandiseDriven, much like the previous entries in the ''WesternAnimation/HotWheelsAcceleracers'' franchise, but this is the first one to be an all-out animated series. While the main character, Vert Wheeler, seems to be the same, no mention is made of the previous two works.

When one of the six youth rather sensibly asks their holographic ObiWan why they alone were chosen to save the world, she replies that each one brings "something different" to the team. Which one brings ''driving experience'' to a battle for the fate of the world that involves high-speed racing is never said. Whether this is LampshadeHanging or BetterThanABareBulb is [[YourMilageMayVary entirely in the eye of the viewer]].

* FakeBrit: Lampshaded in the episode ''Spinning Out'' by Spinner, who tells Stanford that "it's weird how you lose your accent whenever you scream." Stanford's VA is Noel Johansen, who grew up in the U.S., but went to school in London for several years, then promptly moved to Canada.

* ThePsychoRangers: Battle Force -5. Dark versions of the heroes' outfits, check. Always bickering, check. Evil Sherman even has a PermaStubble BeardOfEvil. One trope is played with; it's easy for Evil Vert to simply wipe off what appeared to be a tattoo, the only thing physically identifying him as not-Vert.
