It is the AnimatedAdaptation of a series of children's graphic novels called ''Fangbone! Third Grade Barbarian'', which were written and illustrated by bestselling children's author Michael Rex (who works on the series as an executive producer).
The series centers around the eponymous Fangbone, a nine-year-old BarbarianHero from AnotherDimension known as Skullbania, a SwordAndSorcery fantasy world home to countless {{Barbarian Tribe}}s that have fought against the forces of the EvilSorcerer Venomous Drool for centuries. Drool seeks to take over all of Skullbania, but fortunately, his power is severely diminished by the fact that he is missing the primary source of his dark magic -- [[MacGuffin his big toe]], which is under the protection of Fangbone's own tribe, the Mighty Lizard Clan. In order to prevent Drool and his minions from acquiring the Toe of Evil, Fangbone has been entrusted with the title of Toe-Keeper and sent by the tribe's resident wizard Twinkle-Stick to Earth (which Drool also seeks to conquer).
On Earth, Fangbone befriends Bill Goodwin, an ordinary boy of his age who attends Eastwood Elementary. Bill helps Fangbone with adjusting to life on this strange and unfamiliar new world and assists him in battling the various monsters that Venomous Drool sends out from Skullbania to take the Toe back, as well as other Skullbanian inhabitants that seek out the Toe for their own purposes. What follows is a mixture of action, adventure, and hilarity as Fangbone learns much about both Earth and Skullbania all while battling the forces of evil, trying to adapt to life as an elementary school student, and developing his newfound friendship with Bill.

"The Keeper of Toe" shows examples of the fates of Drool-Keepers who end up getting caught ([[EatenAlive eaten by monsters]], [[BodyHorror getting turned inside-out]], [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking getting your head turned into a goat's and covered in butter]]), and in the case of [[FallenHero Wargrunt]], how easy it can be to [[DrunkWithPower become corrupted by using the magic of Drool's body parts]].

The series centers around the eponymous Fangbone, a nine-year-old BarbarianHero from AnotherDimension known as Skullbania, a SwordsAndSorcery fantasy world home to countless {{Barbarian Tribe}}s that have fought against the forces of the EvilSorcerer Venomous Drool for centuries. Drool seeks to take over all of Skullbania, but fortunately, his power is severely diminished by the fact that he is missing the primary source of his dark magic -- his big toe, which is under the protection of Fangbone's own tribe, the Mighty Lizard Clan. In order to prevent Drool and his minions from acquiring the Toe, Fangbone has been entrusted with the title of Toe-Keeper and sent by the tribe's shaman Twinkle-Stick to Earth (which Drool also seeks to conquer).

Furthermore, "The End of the Beginning" reveals Drool's powers are linked to Skullbania itself, so he is rendered powerless if he comes to Earth.
