* AnachronismStew: 1960s decor, 1970s cars, early 1980s computers (which seem to be able to stream video from the internet), alongside modern cell phones and a number of modern pop-culture references. The Soviet Union apparently still exists, which makes this outright AlternateHistory, although [[PleaseSelectNewCityName Leningrad is referred to as St. Petersburg,]] and world map shown in "Tragical History" indicates that Russia and the former Republics are all independent, and Germany is apparently reunified.
** The computers at least are probably justified as ISIS is known for ridiculous cost-cutting measures and generally being outdated.
** Lampshaded - when Malory poses a rhetorical question "What year is this?!", Sterling responds with "I know, right?".
* AssholeVictim: Frequently. Sterling himself can count as a non-lethal version of this as well - the man gets [[IronButtmonkey shot and stabbed and beaten and tortured and cancer and generally abused]] a ''lot'', but he's such a {{Jerkass}} you just don't feel bad for it. Usually, HeHadItComing.

* BlondGuysAreEvil: In "Double Deuce," the sniveling former second-in-command who is likely behind the murder plot is also the only blond guy in the Double Deuce. [[spoiler: And then it's subverted when it turns out there is no murder plot to begin with.]]

As I recall, it\'s pointed out repeatedly to Archer, so it\'s not an example.

* ArtisticLicensePhysics: The rigid airship is filled with inert helium. Even if a fire caught in the shell, the outpour of helium from the hole would suffocate it immediately, but Archer ''never gets it.'' He punches multiple times the investor who just wants to light a cigar and keeps pointing out the supposed redundancy of a bomb inside the airship.
** Though, to be fair, it was a no smoking area.

Actually, not true. Everytime we see Cyril at his job, he does pretty well. We just rarely see him do it.

*** Well, possibly excepting [[ButtMonkey Cyril]], [[{{Flanderization}} at least in recent seasons]]

* MagnificentBastard: This is what Pam calls Lana when she explains that she got every man in the office to pay her 600$ to ''pretend'' having sex with her so Cyril will be jealous and none of their egos will ever allow them to reveal out loud they didn't really do the deed.

* WrongGenreSavvy: Malory is so insistant in pairing her MarySue self-insertion with a black male [[AuthorAppeal interest]] in the reworked script for ''Disavowed'' that it draws the inevitable comparison to the 1975 movie ''Mandingo.'' Her Hollywood contact finally accepts it under the change of making it a romantic comedy named ''Mandingo 2.''

** Ramon was probably lying to cover up the fact that he originally ''was'' planning to "frag" Archer, though. Claymores spray a lot of shrapnel, but only at in one direction in a sixty degree dispersal pattern--Lemon and Archer were able to use a wicker couch as cover from the blast! Old-fashoned high-explosives or fire would have been cheaper and more effective as a remodeling tool.
