* FlatCharacter: Outside of their devotion to veganism and appearances, the vegans in story are often times interchangeable mouth pieces to spew the author's views. [[WordOfGod Yerdian]] says it's deliberate, since it's focused on activism and not character development or story.

* FemaleAngelMaleDemon: Raziel and Sterk; however,except for the halo, both characters have similar design and clothing themes to each other.

** Rejects any notion that humans could ''possibly'' be physiological omnivores, and uses faulty information to back up its stance that humans are naturally "[[YouKeepUsingThatWord frugivores]]."

* YouKeepUsingThatWord: Yerdian's recurring [[http://archive.is/zqTWx claim]] that humans are not omnivores but "frugivores," which she defines as "a naturally vegan animal." Not only does [[http://thingswithantlers.tumblr.com/post/73885660286/ no such creature]] exist in nature, but the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frugivore actual definition]] of "frugivore" is "any herbivorous ''or omnivorous'' animal for which fruit is a preferred foodstuff." Emphasis on ''preferred,'' meaning they don't live entirely on fruit.

* ComicalAngryFace: A lot of the non-vegans and [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg Dolly]] make these kinds of expressions [[http://archive.is/8VutFvwhen something]] [[http://archive.is/nDheN offends them]]. In the case of Dolly, it's supposed to be seen as righteous anger at non-vegans, while with the former it's supposed to be an example of them lashing out in ignorance.

* WorldOfJerkass: From the eyes of anyone who is a non-extreme vegan, the strip can come off as this. Despite being [[CharacterShilling praised]] as being [[InformedKindness compassionate animal lovers]], the main protagonists come off as an unlikable intolerant lot, who have a [[IrrationalHatred great hatred]] for anyone who is an omnivore. They are often seen aggressively preaching, ridiculing, and even committing acts of violence against them. However, the narrative wants the reader to make it seem that the problem with the world are the non-vegans, since they support animal slaughter, hence it goes out of it's way to try to portray them as being [[AntiRoleModel amoral as possible]].

** This also coincides with the belief that [[http://archive.fo/eVhHs ex-vegans were never real vegans in the first place]].

** The author continually advocates against bodyshaming, and often depicts [[StrawCharacter Shawn]] engaging in [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain making fun of those who are thin or fat]]. However, she portrays pre-redesign Cuntons and Tommy—two of the three recurring characters who are overweight—as [[{{Gonk}} grotesque]], and implies that their girth is due to eating meat. Even her positively-portrayed vegan FatGirl character, Mike, is a junk-food junkie (which can be seen as enforcing stereotypes about fat people being obsessed with food) whose weight is attributed to [[NutritionalNightmare what her mother fed her]] ''before'' she went vegan.

* FatGirl: In contrast with [[BigBeautifulWoman Mike]], Cuntons' weight is implied to be the result of a omnivore diet, and she is portrayed as [[FatSlob an unkempt slob]].
* FatSlob: Cuntons is the obvious example (see FatGirl entry above); additionally, Shawn gains weight in one strip as the result of trying to show up Lilith by tripling his meat intake. Both characters, being [[AcceptableTargets omnivores]], are portrayed as disgusting and slovenly.

* InsultBackfire: When Shawn tries to compare [[FatGirl Mike]] to several animals, she converts it into [[http://archive.is/X7dqX a positive compliment]].

* LameExcuse: The narrative and vegan characters treats any arguments for omnivorism as being this, due to believing it's based on a [[http://archive.is/7MZRu victimizer mindset]].

** In the [[{{Bowdlerize}} bowdlerized]] version of the [[http://archive.is/jyzPz leather strip]] with Shawn, Brie trolls him by saying if he's trying to do [[Disney/OneHundredAndOneDalmatians Cruella cosplay]].

** [[Disney/TheLionKing Scar and Shawn as Mufasa]] makes an appearance in a [[http://archive.is/tTTxd panel]] trying to argue that [[CriticalResearchFailure humans are not natural predators.]]

* HumanResources: When a group of omnivores questions putting an omnivorous animal on a vegan diet, Sterk decides to [[http://www.veganartbook.com/comics/627/ grind them up]] and feed them to it. After all, he reasons, omnivores shouldn't mind giving up their ''own'' meat if it means giving an animal the proper nutrient sources it needs.

** A [[http://archive.li/T99Od strip]] depicting Diva and Weeb going shopping while listing off items with misnomer names, which ends in the latter crying about how "vegan food" is deceptive when the former brings up "vegan burgers, is based on how legislation is trying to made to make vegan food stop using meat terms for their products.

** An [[TakeThat unflattering caricature]] of doctor and Internet personality Zubin "Z-Dogg M.D." Damania appears in the series, and is mocked as being [[InformedWrongness misinformed about veganism]].

* ImStandingRightHere: [[http://archive.fo/RoDTF In Pupa Vegan Purple 651]], [[TokenMiniMoe Cherry]] ponders ,after hearing the featured quote by Leonardo, if she is hanging out with with [[InformedWrongness "future criminals"]] (aka omnivores), while [[DisappointingOlderSibling Shawn]],[[LovableAlphaBitch Diva]], and [[TokenReligiousTeammate Bindiya]] are standing right in front of her looking justifiably pissed.

* KnowNothingKnowItAll: The "carnists" are often treated as being this by Yerdian. However, the vegan protagonists—who spout inaccurate, outdated, and biased information that has little backing from legitimate sources—would seem to ''more'' accurately represent the trope.
* LackOfEmpathy: The "carnists" are regularly accused by the vegan protagonists (and the narrative) as lacking any empathy for the animals they eat. On the other hand, the vegans (and the narrative) seem to not care about non-vegans and the reasons ''why'' they're not vegan...which apparently include allergies, the inability to properly absorb non-heme iron, and lack of access to vegan prodcuts.

* MeatVersusVeggies: The regular arguments that the vegans and "carnists" get into. Due to the nature of the comic, the vegans' stances are always depicted as being right even when the "carnists" bring up valid or even stronger points.

* MrFanservice: Rohit, a vegan bodybuilder, who often wears [[SleevesAreForWimps sleeveless shirts]] which expose his well-toned muscles.

* NightmareFace: Mike makes one when Shawn calls her one of [[ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne the most human]] [[http://archive.is/X7dqX person he knew]].

* NoSympathy: In one three part comic focusing on two bulls in Germany who escaped from a truck and got shot by the police, the narrative [[IrrationalHatred blames]] the whole situation on omnivores and frames [[http://archive.is/N3yhF the world going vegan]] as the only way to prevent further scenarios like this. The calves, meanwhile, are depicted as innocent victims seeking freedom; [[http://archive.is/WxkaQ the danger that they could have posed to those around them]] is HandWaved aside as a non-issue.

** In contrast with a later strip about the [[http://archive.fo/iuzM6 Boxtel protest]], where many [[AnimalWrongsGroup animal activists]] set up shop to protest the alleged abuses at the farm. While [[GranolaGirl Lulu]] takes the group's account at their word and shows sympathy for the pigs, [[CategoryTraitor Bunny]] on the other hand feels sorry more for the farmer and this is [[InformedWrongness treated]] in-universe as [[MoralMyopia myopic]] by the narrative.

* BedlamHouse: [[DeadpanSnarker Lilith]] kicks [[ButtMonkey Shawn]] [[http://archive.fo/sOHqg into one]]-where [[FanNickname "Weeb"]] and [[CountryMatters Cuntons]] are housed as well, when [[DisproportionateRetribution he makes a smart remark about a vegan expose of the animal industry making him hungry]].

* PetTheDog: Cuntons loves her pets. Though Yerdian argues this love doesn't really exist because Cuntons isn't a vegan.

* UnfortunateNames: Of course, the most obvious example is "Cuntons", which used to be Maura Clemmon's [[FictionalCounerpart fictional self's]] previous name. Obviously a nasty TakeThat at her expense.

* ForTheEvulz: Cuntons hates wolves ''just because''.

** Subverted with Cuntons, whose old character page says she [[PetTheDog loves cats]] (even though [[InformedAttribute she is never shown interacting with any]]). However, the overall narrative treats this trait as an example of her not being a true animal lover because she eats meat.

** ''Cuntons''. She's not a nice lady.

* UnfortunateNames: Again: ''Cuntons''. Most likely a [[EmbarrassingLastName surname]]—the name is a {{portmanteau}} of the surname of [[TakeThat someone Yerdian doesn't like]] and [[CountryMatters the obvious]]—which saves us the trouble of wondering [[WhoNamesTheirKidDude who in the sweet merciful hell would name their daughter that]], but even so...''especially'' seeing as it's the ''only'' name she's given at all.

** [[http://archive.is/TPOhU In Pupa Vegan Comic 332]], the butcher ,that Shawn pays to kill a cow, bears a strong resemblance to [[Franchise/TheTexasChainsawMassacre Leatherface]].
